The US government has released the US National Blueprint for Transportation Decarbonization, which was jointly developed by the Department of Transportation, the Department of Energy, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Environmental Protection Agency. In order to achieve net zero emissions across the United States by 2050, the Blueprint identifies a complete set of solutions covering passenger and freight transport, multiple vehicle types, and technical routes. Among them, zero-emission electric vehicles are defined as the cornerstone of the new transportation model, and the following main goals are proposed: by 2030, 50% of new passenger car sales will achieve zero emissions, 30% of new medium and heavy-duty truck sales will achieve zero emissions, and by 2040, 100% will be achieved, and a charging network with 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations will be built. By 2035, all federally procured vehicles will be zero-emission vehicles to ensure that the infrastructure needed to support clean technology is in place. In addition, the Blueprint also clearly emphasizes that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act and the Inflation Reduction Act previously issued by the Biden administration are prerequisites for promoting the transportation sector to complete the net zero emission transformation.
