BYD ranks first in global new energy vehicle sales in the first quarter of 2024 with 624,400 units sold

Recently, foreign media released the global new energy vehicle sales ranking for the first quarter of 2024. The competition among major automobile groups in the new energy field has become increasingly fierce.

BYD ranked first with sales of 624,400 vehicles, with a market share of 19.4%, an increase of 2.1 percentage points over the same period last year, showing a strong growth momentum.

Tesla followed closely behind with sales of 386,800 vehicles and a new energy vehicle market share of 12.0%. Although it fell by 4.5 percentage points from the same period last year, it still maintained a high market share.

Geely-Volvo Group ranked third with sales of 251,100 vehicles and a market share of 7.8%, a slight decrease of 0.5 percentage points from the same period last year.

Volkswagen Group ranked fourth with sales of 205,600 vehicles, and its new energy vehicle market share was 6.4%, a slight decrease of 0.1 percentage point compared with the same period last year.

SAIC Group ranked fifth with sales of 190,400 vehicles and a market share of 5.9%, down 0.5 percentage points from last year.

In the first quarter of 2024, there was a significant differentiation in the sales performance of the new energy vehicle market , with BYD's strong growth contrasting sharply with the declining market share of other automakers.

As global demand for new energy vehicles continues to grow, competition among major automakers will become more intense, and technological innovation and adjustments to market strategies will become key factors affecting sales.
