In 1992, when I was in the second grade of elementary school, I got my first game console, the Nintendo FC. Since then, in addition to my student identity, I have a "mysterious" identity, that is, a "game player". For people like me who were born in the 1980s, the enlightenment of games came from the FC, and eventually fell on computers. Although the post-80s generation came into contact with computers relatively early, they were very expensive. My first laptop was a Panasonic laptop that my father brought back from Japan around 1998. At that time, I didn’t know what the model was, I just knew it was a laptop, black and not very good-looking. For a long time, the main function of this laptop, in addition to running some extremely simple learning software today, was to be able to play some games such as "Mega Man", "Red Alert", "Mario" and "The Lion King" that were engraved on 3.5-inch floppy disks. This was also my first close contact with computer games. For a long time afterwards, computers were something that I could do without, because the uses of computers at that time were not as rich as they are today, and the games on computers were much worse than those on MD, PS, and SS platforms. For players at that time, computers did not have enough appeal. The time came to 2008. I graduated from university and got my second laptop for work reasons. It was a Lenovo business laptop. At that time, I felt its performance was pretty good, but the development speed of computer hardware suddenly accelerated from 2008 to 2010. So I sold it two years later and replaced it with a gaming laptop, which is this gaming laptop, which has been with me until recently.▲This year, I clearly felt that my old computer had encountered a big bottleneck. In fact, as I get older, my desire for heavy games has gradually weakened. For example, RPG and business simulation games that require a lot of time are really beyond my ability now. Some fast-paced, short and capable MOBA and FPS games are more suitable for me, such as "League of Legends", "Overwatch", "COD" and other games. One game is one game, and you can leave at any time without continuous strategy. However, for an old gaming laptop from five years ago, the hardware requirements of many games have been raised to another level. In the past, I could tolerate "slow reading", but now I face the problem of "unable to run smoothly", which is completely two concepts for gamers. So, I decided to change to a new gaming computer... Some considerations about changing to a new one . Five or ten years ago, for most people, changing computers was still a very cautious thing. After all, computers were still "luxury goods" for us at that time. Now, with the increase in purchasing power and the rationalization of computer prices, it has gradually become natural to replace computers. In fact, when I changed my computer recently, I thought carefully about why I was too lazy to change my computer in the past few years. I summarized the following reasons: First, after the old computer was replaced with a solid-state hard drive, the system became smoother, and the games I often played could basically run. Except for the slow loading bar, everything else was tolerable . Secondly, most of the content I was interested in did not have too high hardware requirements, and the old computer could still run, so I always felt that there was no need to change to a new one . Third, the hardware update speed was fast. Every time I felt that I wanted to change my computer, I thought, "Is it more cost-effective to wait for the next generation to come out before buying it?" In fact, as far as I know, many friends around me have similar ideas: on the one hand, they think that the old computer can be tolerated; on the other hand, they always feel that it is not cost-effective to spend thousands or tens of thousands of yuan to buy a new computer, which will only keep its value for more than a year. "Then why did I, who hadn't changed my computer for five years, make up my mind to change to a new computer this year?" I also thought about this question for a while. At first, I thought I was impulsive consumption, but later I thought that the reason might not be so simple. The general environment of the computer industry has changed First of all, I think the general environment of the computer industry has changed a lot. As the pace of hardware process updates slows down, the pace of computer upgrades begins to slow down, and the life cycle of hardware platforms lasts longer. For example, after the release of the sixth-generation Intel Core platform, the next-generation platform will be launched, and the final product may be launched in the next year. Instead of continuing to endure the slow and lagging game status of the old computer, it is better to change to a new computer to see what high-definition and extremely smooth games are like? I think this is also a fundamental demand for old players. Excessive hardware performance faces doubts . Secondly, there have been many voices saying that "computer hardware performance, especially processor performance, is seriously excessive." I have agreed with this view before, but in the past six months, I think this view has been somewhat untenable. I think for users who chat on QQ, surf the Internet, and watch movies every day, ordinary computers are enough, but for gamers, performance is never excessive, because every year there are always some more demanding games or applications that challenge the past computer hardware. Although we don’t have to choose to change to a new computer every time we face such a challenge, it is still difficult to stick to old computers that are at least three or five years old . Especially after being invited by a friend to experience VR games recently, I have a deep understanding of this. Everyone may understand that ordinary 3D games pay more attention to the performance of the graphics card. As long as the graphics card performance is strong, it is not a big problem if the processor is a little old. But VR games are completely different. In addition to requiring a high-performance graphics card, the requirements for the processor are also very high. Because when you turn the perspective in a panoramic video environment, the picture goes from left to right or from bottom to top in 1 second. This process requires extremely powerful processor computing power to make it smooth and fluent. So for an old player like me who has plans and needs for VR games, this is also the motivation for me to make up my mind to change to a new computer. New visual experience The last may be the visual demand. My previous old computer was released around 2009, and the screen resolution was generally 1366×768 at that time. But to be honest, I thought 1366×768 was already quite cool back then. However, now the mobile phones in my hands are all 1080P, and most of the electronic devices with screens that we use in daily life have reached the full HD standard, and the roughness of the 1366×768 resolution is fully revealed. ▲The experience of the full HD wide-viewing angle screen surpasses that of the old computer. The current game screens are getting more and more exquisite. Using low resolution is a complete waste. High resolution has higher requirements for hardware, so the pursuit of a better visual experience is also a major reason for my replacement. In fact, for a gamer, you can never be completely satisfied with the performance of the computer, but it is often difficult to replace it every year due to budget pressure. However, when the old computer encounters an unbearable bottleneck, I think it is really necessary to replace it with a new one.
