IE browser market share plummeted 55% year-on-year: users abandoned it one after another

In the past, IE browser has always been "resting on its laurels" with its absolute market share advantage in Windows system, but since Microsoft launched the updated Edge browser and Google Chrome has become more motivated, IE has been eliminated at a faster pace. The latest statistics from market research agency NetMarketShare show that in the statistics of browser market share for the whole year of 2016, IE accounted for 21.66%, a sharp drop of 55% from 46.32% in the same period of 2015. As for Edge browser, it has basically remained stagnant, with a market share of 5.21% in 2016, although it has increased by 190% compared with the same period of 2015 (2.79%). However, compared with the increase in the share of Window 10 system, this increase is not gratifying. As for Microsoft's opponents, Google Chrome browser and Mozilla FireFox have been advancing all the way in 2016, with market shares increased to 56.43% and 12.22% respectively. For other browsers, Opera is still stable at 1.33%, and Apple Safari is 0.14%. Currently, Microsoft has added plug-in extension support and Google's Brotli compression algorithm to Edge browsing, and it is expected that there will be more intense competition with Chrome in 2017.
