On October 26, Changan Mazda EZ-6 was officially launched. The new car has 7 configuration models, with a price range of 139,800-179,800 yuan. As the first model jointly developed by Mazda and Changan Automobile, it is positioned as a mid-size sedan and has two versions: extended-range and pure electric. The pure electric version has a maximum range of 600km, and the extended-range version has a comprehensive range of over 1,300km. Because it is also built on the Changan EPA platform, it is nicknamed the "rebadged car" of the Deep Blue SL03 by some netizens.

Mazda EZ-6 continues Mazda's family-oriented Soul Motion design concept. The iconic front grille is highly recognizable. The pure electric model uses a closed front grille, while the extended-range model uses an open front grille. From a visual point of view, the difference is not obvious. On both sides are slender and sharp headlights with a split structure, and the main light source is hidden under the daytime running lights.

The rear part of the car is quite agile, equipped with a through-type taillight group and an electric rear wing. In addition, it also comes standard with 19-inch large wheels and zero-gravity seats.

However, the latter model comes standard with a 99L front trunk, and the trunk space is much larger than the Alpha S5. EZ6 replenishes energy faster

Comparing the battery and chassis, the Alpha S5 is equipped with a 79.2-degree ternary lithium battery pack from CATL, while the Mazda EZ-6 is also equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL. The Mazda EZ-6 can be charged at a rate of 3C, while the Alpha S5 is only 2.6C. The EZ-6 is undoubtedly more efficient in terms of energy replenishment, but the difference is not obvious, especially since the range is more than 100 kilometers shorter.

In terms of chassis, the suspension type of the two models, Alpha S5 and Mazda EZ-6, is the same, both are front McPherson and rear multi-link independent suspension. The tire specifications are also 245/45, R19. Of course, the key to whether the chassis is good or not depends on the tuning. Mazda EZ-6 is a deep blue foundation that integrates Mazda's technology, while Alpha S5 is the technology accumulation of BAIC. They both have their own advantages, but in terms of handling, EZ-6 will be slightly better, but its motor power is weaker.

Mazda EZ-6 has better intelligent driving

In terms of smart cabin, the central control screen of Alpha S5 is larger than that of EZ-6. Both are equipped with Snapdragon 8155 car chip, and the entertainment experience of Alpha S5 car screen will be better. In terms of panoramic sunroof, both cars have non-openable panoramic sunroof.

In terms of intelligent driving, both Mazda EZ6 and Alpha S5 offer L2-level driving assistance functions, including active braking, lane departure warning, 360-degree panoramic imaging, lane keeping assistance, lane centering, road traffic sign recognition, and fatigue driving detection. Mazda also adds forward traffic warning and braking. In addition, Mazda also emphasizes that EZ-6 supports 150+ parking spaces in all scenarios, and can be parked with or without wires.

In terms of comfort configuration, both models have the same air-conditioning type, but Mazda has independent rear air conditioning, air purifier, negative ion generator, air quality management system, while Alpha S5 has hidden air outlets.

In terms of seat material, Mazda EZ-6 uses Alcantara+Nappa leather, while Alpha S5 uses imitation leather. In terms of seat functions, both cars have front seat heating, ventilation, and memory functions, but Mazda only has seat memory function for the driver. Mazda is equipped with seat massage, while Alpha S5 does not have it.

The EZ-6 is equipped with 14 speakers of Sony audio, while the Alpha S5 has 15 speakers in the car and adopts a 7.1-channel layout. The latter has better sound performance.

In terms of intelligent driving capabilities, the Mazda EZ-6 and the Alpha S5 have the same number of cameras and ultrasonic radars, but in terms of the number of millimeter waves, the Mazda EZ-6 has two more than the Alpha S5. The Mazda EZ-6's perception range and the information it collects will be larger and more than those of the Alpha S5.

By comparison, we can see that the Mazda EZ-6 has a larger space and better safety configuration. In terms of the car machine and chassis, the two models are basically comparable, but in terms of comfort configuration, the Mazda EZ-6 is better than the Alpha S5. However, in terms of power and range, the Mazda EZ-6's shortcomings are too obvious, with a range of 108 kilometers shorter and a slightly insufficient motor power. If Mazda wants to hit a monthly sales volume of 5,000, it is likely to "fight against each other" with the Deep Blue SL03 and participate in a price war.

If you like longer driving range and stronger power, choose Alpha S5. If you want a large space and a comfortable ride, choose Mazda EZ6.
