China Passenger Car Association: Tesla's China wholesale sales in February 2025 were 30,688 units, down about 50% from the previous month

According to the China Passenger Car Association, Tesla's wholesale sales in China in February were 30,688, while in January, Tesla's wholesale sales in China were about 63,238, a month-on-month decline of about 50%. At the same time, Tesla's sales in Europe also showed a downward trend, with the number of Tesla brand newly registered motor vehicles in Sweden decreasing by 42% year-on-year to 613, Norway by 48% to 917, and Denmark by 48% to 509.

It is worth noting that almost all newly registered motor vehicles in Norway are pure electric vehicles, but Tesla's share of motor vehicle sales has fallen to 8.8%. In 2024, Tesla will be in the leading position throughout the year, accounting for 18.9%, and will reach 20% in 2023.

Industry insiders believe that Tesla’s declining sales in Europe is related to its CEO Musk, who plays an important role in the US government and seems to have become the biggest enemy of the Tesla brand.

In the Chinese market, Tesla faces fierce competition from local brands. Data shows that BYD's sales in February were 322,846 units, a year-on-year increase of 164%. Among them, 67,025 passenger cars were sold overseas, a year-on-year increase of 187.8%, firmly sitting on the throne of sales champion.

In addition, BYD released its national smart driving strategy in February, and all models, from the million-yuan Yangwang U8 to the 69,800-yuan Seagull Smart Driving Edition, are equipped with smart driving functions. In comparison, local brands such as BYD are continuing to expand their market share through cost optimization and localization adaptation, and the pressure on Tesla continues to increase.
