Meizu E3 mobile phone first experience: This is Li Yunlong's Italian cannon

"Second Battalion Commander, where is your TND Italian gun?"

The cannons fired and the city was broken.

The reason why we brought out this perennial internet meme to talk about the Meizu E3 phone is that Meizu has changed. Starting from E3, it no longer hesitates in the thousand-yuan phone market, but dares to move upward, letting go of its invisible constraints on positioning and going all out to challenge those ceilings and challenges those impossibilities.

Challenging these rules requires powerful weapons. Therefore, Meilan launched its own Italian cannon - E3. As for its power and whether it can destroy a city with one shot, please bear with me.

Appearance

There is a highly rated war film directed by Kubrick in Hollywood called "Full Metal Jacket". Thirty years later, the concept of full metal began to become a standard feature on mobile phones.

Meizu M3 uses a full metal body with only a small hole for the camera. The benefits of this are obvious, the body structure is stronger and the overall visual effect is better.

On the side of the body. Meizu M3 has a groundbreaking design of side fingerprint recognition, which is the concave part in the picture. Why is it groundbreaking? Just a few months ago, this design was only used on high-end flagship models. But now it is used on a model that was originally used to compete with Redmi.

In fact, there are only two original intentions behind this design:

1. There is no space on the front. The under-screen fingerprint recognition technology is not yet mature, and even if it is mature, it will not be used on Meizu Blue. The price of Meizu Blue is here.

2. It is inconvenient to set up fingerprint recognition on the back, especially for those who are used to holding it with one hand. When you touch the fingerprint recognition position with your middle finger or index finger, the machine may not be able to hold it firmly and fall to the ground.

Screen

The E3 uses a full screen with a higher screen-to-body ratio. In order to retain its unique mBack function, the E3 is also equipped with a pressure-sensitive Home button.

In actual use, the mBack function is very practical. By pressing a key and for a certain period of time, you can accomplish tasks that usually require three keys on an Android phone.

Battery

The E3's lithium-ion polymer battery is rated at 3360 mAh. This is not surprising in terms of capacity, and there is even a gap of more than 100 mAh compared to the benchmark products. However, in terms of fast charging, Meizu Blue regained a point with its 20W fast charging, taking the lead in charging for a few minutes and talking for two hours.

What is the concept of 20W fast charging? The general fast charging is 18W, which means that the charging time of Meizu E3 is 10% faster than other competing products.

camera

At the launch of Meizu E3, Li Nan, who was in charge of Meizu products for the last time, put forward the slogan "Have fun and take clear pictures."

In fact, in terms of photography, the Meizu E3 is not far behind other competing products. The 12-megapixel main camera uses the Sony IMX 362 sensor, the same model as the Meizu Note 6 and the VIVO Xplay 6, which is also known for its photography. The secondary camera also uses the Sony IMX 350 sensor. The front camera uses an 8-megapixel CMOS system from Samsung.

The sensor determines at least 50% of the quality of a mobile phone's photography, and the other 50% is optical image stabilization and algorithms.

In the minds of many people, both Meizu and Meizu Blue seem to be lacking in photography, but at this E3, we saw different changes.

In actual shooting, the focusing speed of Meizu E3 is amazing. Compared with previous Meizu phones, E3 can be said to focus instantly and the imaging speed is very fast. Even so, in terms of image quality, if there is sufficient light, Meizu E3 will have superb expressiveness.

In a completely artificial light environment, I took a photo of a bottle of mineral water. The red part of the photo is particularly bright, the edge of the white font is clear and natural, and the texture of the background wallpaper is also vivid. Overall, the E3 did what it should do. In fact, judging from the previous tests of the Meizu Blue series of mobile phones, although optical image stabilization is still missing, the imaging effect of the E3 is even better this time. Perhaps Meizu has made some optimizations in the photo algorithm.

performance

First, the configuration table:

CPU: Qualcomm Snapdragon 636

Storage: 6+64G / 6+128G (1799 yuan / 1999 yuan)

Screen: 5.99-inch 18:9 full screen, 2160 x 1080, ppi 403

Camera: 12MP rear camera + 20MP secondary camera, F1.9 aperture, 8MP front camera, F2.0 aperture

Battery: 3360mAh, supports 20W fast charging

Interface: Type-C interface, 3.5mm headphone jack

System version: Android 7.1

It is worth mentioning that the E3 uses the Type-C interface this time, which slaps the faces of many seemingly high-end phones. You should know that many mobile phones priced close to 3,000 yuan are still stubbornly using the USB interface.

In terms of running scores, the E3 is limited by the CPU's maximum frequency of 1.8G, and does not show the appearance of a king in the running scores.

Fortunately, the CPU now has excess performance, and the frequency does not have much impact on daily use.

In actual use, thanks to E3's 6G large memory and the flyme system based on deep optimization of Android, various operations are smooth and can easily cope with various mobile battle games.

Price

This is the most important part, and it is also the ultimate trick to win at E3.

From the overall performance point of view, Meizu M3 scored more points in appearance, configuration, design and entertainment, and its highlights are more prominent. With a starting price of 1,799 yuan, it is obviously not aimed at mobile phones of the same price. Its intention is more to compete with products priced at 2,000 yuan.

In the 2,000 yuan price range, Meizu Blue has to face many strong competitors, including Xiaomi and Hammer, which will put pressure on it. However, E3 chose the 1,799 yuan price range, with similar functions and configurations, but only 300 to 500 yuan less than you.

For many consumers, this is often the most competitive. Just like Toyota cars, if you pull them out and compete on a certain performance, they may not be as good as Honda and Nissan, but when the cars are put together, Toyota has some small advantages, that is, it is a little better, a little cheaper, and a little more durable. That's enough.

Back to the beginning. Meizu Blue E3 is the final work of its soul creator Li Nan. For Meizu, it is the first battle of Meizu Blue. There is no doubt that this Italian cannon is powerful enough and the direction of aiming is accurate enough. Whether it can become a hit, I think that Meizu Blue E3, which is well-balanced in all aspects, has the strength to do so.
