An early employee of the Android team explains why Android is inferior to iOS

Recently, some mobile executives talked about how developers view the mobile ecosystem. Among them, Tom Moss, one of the early employees of Google's Android team, explained where Android lost to the iPhone, saying that the enterprise market is Android's weak point. The worst thing is that before Android proves its value to users, most employees will directly choose to use iPhone.

Here are the main points of this article:

The competition between Android and iOS has been going on for nearly 10 years. As of the third quarter of 2014, Android phones accounted for more than 80% of the global smartphone market, but this achievement is due to the fact that dozens of different companies are producing Android phones.

In contrast, about 12% of the world's devices use the iOS system, and the revenue generated by these devices can flow directly to Apple.

It's too early to say who will win or lose in the Android vs. iOS race, but some mobile executives have recently talked about how developers view the mobile ecosystem.

Moss, CEO and co-founder of Nextbit, a company that helps users sync data between Android devices, said he doesn't think Android offers anything different that makes it more attractive than iOS. It is worth mentioning that Moss was one of the early employees of Google's Android team and helped Google establish Android business development and strategic partnerships in 2007.

"I don't think Android solves any different problems for users now than Apple does," Moss said. "Apple has a better brand, and as long as Android doesn't solve any new and different problems, that's not going to change."

Moss also acknowledged Android's apparent lack of presence in the enterprise market, which is currently dominated by Apple and Microsoft. "Android for Work won't solve the problem right now, but at least it sends a signal to others that Google actually cares about this," he said.

Android for Work is a new type of Android software that can be deployed in an enterprise environment. The software allows users to set up a dedicated work environment on a single device and switch between work and personal modes. Android for Work is not yet available, but Google has detailed its features in a preview page on the Android website.

"That's a secondary issue," Moss said. "If you ask an employee to choose between an iPhone and an Android phone, the bottom line is that most people will choose the iPhone."
