Wil Shipley is a senior developer who worked at NeXT a long time ago. In 1989, Shipley first came into contact with Cocoa, which was then called NeXTstep. After learning about Cocoa, Shipley said that he was willing to spend his life developing Cocoa so that everyone could use it. He had the same feeling about the newly released Swift 1.2 version. Wil Shipley co-founded The Omni Group in 1991 as one of the few companies developing apps for NeXT, and eventually for OS X. He won five Apple Design Awards while at Omni, and three more at his second company, Delicious Monster. All of Delicious Monster’s employees were hired by Apple. Shipley gave speeches at WWDC in 2005 and 2007, and was named the most influential member of the Mac community by MacTech magazine for two consecutive years. Although Swift has received a lot of praise, the rapid iteration also brings considerable challenges. The new version must be backward compatible, and developers need to change the code and fully support the latest iOS system. |
