The most undesirable bug in Android: No fix in sight

The most undesirable bug in Android: No fix in sight

Android 5.1 has been pushed to many Nexus devices, but users who are excited to get the new system have found that the long-standing memory leak problem is still there. As early as the end of last year when the news of Android 5.1 was first announced, there were claims that the memory leak problem would be solved, but in the end, the hope was dashed, and Google did not even announce the specific update content of Android 5.1. In the past week, many Nexus users have reported that the memory leak is still there, and it is easy to consume more than 1GB, and even the available memory is completely zero, making it almost impossible to make calls and send text messages.

This problem is particularly evident on the Nexus 5. One user of a Nexus 5 32GB said that he could easily reproduce the problem: open a random game, then slide it to close it, and repeat. Each time, the system's available memory would lose 100MB or more, and eventually it would be completely exhausted, and even a "huge" negative number would be displayed.

He also said that this would happen even if the phone had just been restarted, and it would slowly start to restart again even if he was not playing games.

A Google project manager responded simply: "The issue has been fixed internally, but there is currently no timeline for a public release."

There was news that Android 5.1.1 would solve this problem, but it seems unlikely. Do we have to wait until Android 5.2? Are Nexus 5 users no longer important?
