Domestic opinion is that this is normal: Apple App Store revenue is 70% higher than Google App Store

On April 16, data released by global app data analysis website App Annie*** showed that in the first quarter of this year, the total number of app downloads from Google Play was 70% higher than that from Apple's App Store, but the latter's app download revenue was about 70% higher than that of Google Play.

App Annie pointed out in the report that as the revenue market war between Apple and Google becomes more and more intense, the above two trends have become more and more obvious in recent quarters. Although Google Play has an advantage in downloads and this advantage is expanding, the revenue gap between Apple App Store and Google App Store is also widening.

In the first quarter of this year, the total global revenue of Apple's App Store was about 70% higher than that of Google Play, which was an increase from 60% in the third quarter of 2014. App Annie pointed out that this was mainly due to the strong performance of the Chinese and American markets. At the same time, driven by demand in emerging markets such as Mexico, Turkey, Brazil and Indonesia, the number of app downloads on Google Play was 70% higher than that of Apple's App Store, which was also an increase from 60% in the third quarter of last year.

For Apple, the biggest bright spot is the Chinese market, which also reflects the popularity of iPhone in the Chinese smartphone market. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were well received by Chinese consumers after they were launched, reflecting that Chinese consumers prefer smartphones with large screens.

App Annie pointed out that in the first quarter of 2015, China has surpassed the United States to become the market with the most iOS app downloads. However, in terms of iOS app revenue, the Chinese market still lags behind the United States and Japan.
