Earlier this week, iPhone users discovered that their phones would crash the Messages app after receiving a text message containing special characters via the iMessage service. Apple released a support document on its official website on Friday, detailing the solution to the above problem. In the document, Apple stated that iPhone users who have received this special text message need to complete the following steps to use Siri to unlock the Messages app: 1. Instruct Siri to "read unread emails". 2. Use Siri to reply to the malicious text message. After replying, the user can open the Messages app again. 3. In Messages, swipe left to delete the entire list of text messages. Or tap and hold the malicious text message, tap the "More" button, and delete all related text messages. Apple's official workaround is similar to the fix suggested by iPhone users. Apple said it discovered the issue on Wednesday and is working to fix the vulnerability, but has not yet released an update for Messages. |
