Project Soli is a more amazing interactive technology than Apple Watch

Apple's first smartwatch, Apple Watch, attracted a lot of attention when it was launched, and its revolutionary Force touch pressure-sensitive touch interaction technology played a big role. However, at this year's Google Developer Conference, the Project Soli technology released by Google's ATAP team is more subversive than the interaction method of Apple Watch.

Compared with Force touch pressure-sensitive touch, Google's new technology is obviously more technologically advanced. It uses micro-radar to capture sub-millimeter finger and hand movements, and uses it to control a variety of devices.

Project Soli is an interactive system based on radio wave reflection. Radio waves with a wavelength of 5mm are capable of capturing fine movements within a spatial range of 5m. The technical challenge is that the radio wave transmitters currently on the market are too large.

The goal of Project Soli is to put a radio wave transmitter + receiver on a watch, integrating the radio wave transmitting antenna and receiving antenna into a chip the size of a quarter coin - but as of the time of this sharing, this goal has not been achieved. The device used in this demonstration is about the size of half a palm.

ATAP's contributors said they plan to release Project Soli devices within 10 months and to release the project's SDK kit later this year. This cool interactive method has a lot of room for imagination in future application scenarios. Let's take a look at a few demonstration animations first.
