On June 18, the BesTV/ARM HTML5 Technology Forum was unveiled at the BesTV New Media Research Institute. The forum was jointly held by BesTV New Media Research Institute and ARM, and guests from upstream and downstream industries, including SoC, ODM/OEM, operators, solution providers, channels and developers, gathered together to discuss the current status and future of HTML5 technology. Bao Jianyun from the game engine development giant Cocos2d-x Community gave a wonderful speech titled "Cocos HTML5 Solution", which introduced in detail the many supports that Cocos provides for HTML5 game developers, such as open source engine, tool chain, operating platform, as well as channel access, test analysis, payment, etc. Bao Jianyun is a senior technical engineer in the developer relations department of Cocos2d-x Community. Cocos has full platform support, is open source, has a powerful tool chain, and a minimalist API. Its performance is also great. In this regard, Bao Jianyun said in his speech: "When choosing the Cocos engine to develop HTML5 games, you can reduce the fill rate, reduce rendering instructions, and reduce memory usage." Bao Jianyun's speech brought great inspiration to the organizers and guests on site. The participants interacted frequently and had heated discussions on his speech. Game engines from overseas also came to the scene. Liang Yuzhou, senior engineer of ARM's ecosystem, demonstrated the PlayCanvas engine, which is based on WebGL technology and the most advanced GPU algorithm, bringing a visual experience close to that of a blockbuster movie to HTML5 games. As the organizer, Dr. Li Wen, Senior Vice President of BesTV and Vice President of BesTV New Media Research Institute, also delivered a speech. His theme was "HTML5 will become the main technology choice in the field of smart TVs and home entertainment". He analyzed the unique advantages of HTML5 technology in the field of smart TVs and home entertainment, and introduced the fruitful work done by BesTV New Media Research Institute based on HTML5 in the National Core High-tech Project and the TVOS project led by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television. ARM also attached great importance to this forum. Its UI and browser marketing manager Matt Spencer came all the way from the UK headquarters to introduce to the audience the latest progress of HTML5 technology and specifications around the world. In recent years, HTML5 has become increasingly popular in the Internet field, and its commercial promotion has also experienced ups and downs. However, with the finalization of the HTML5 specification, 2015 is undoubtedly the hottest year for HTML5 in history. The number of industry forums alone shows that this year, more than 50 HTML5-related industry conferences will be held in my country. HTML5-related companies have also become a hot commodity for investors. It is no longer a new thing for companies related to HTML5 technology to launch IPOs and for start-ups to obtain billion-level valuations. Against this industry backdrop, this forum attracted great attention from the industry. The atmosphere was lively and guests actively interacted, bringing new dimensions of thinking to the development of HTML5 technology. |
