Apple delays watchOS 2 release due to thorny vulnerability

[[149425]]

Apple has delayed the release of watchOS 2, the first major upgrade to the operating system used by the Apple Watch, because it found an unspecified vulnerability in the software, according to foreign media reports.

iOS 9 will be released as planned today, but Apple Watch users will have to wait a little longer to get native third-party apps and other new features including watchOS 2.

An Apple spokesperson confirmed the delay in the release of watchOS 2. He said in a statement: "We have discovered a bug in the development of watchOS 2 that is taking longer than we expected to fix. We will not release watchOS 2 today, but will release it soon."

It's not clear what this vulnerability is, but we'll report on it as soon as Apple releases more details.
