According to the latest news from foreign media, the iOS 9.1 system update released by Apple not long ago has been exposed to have loopholes again. Some users reported that after upgrading their devices using the "Overnight updates" mode, the alarms originally set on their phones may become invalid, which may cause many iOS users to oversleep the next day because the alarms did not ring. A foreign user named "Gary" recently reported to AppleInsider, a well-known Apple information media, that there is a vulnerability in the iOS 9.1 upgrade program released by Apple last week. Specifically, when users use the "Overnight updates" mode to upgrade their devices, they will find that all the alarms previously set on the device will be invalid when they wake up the next morning. Gary revealed that he knew of at least three iOS users who overslept the next day after upgrading their devices using the new "overnight update" mode because their phone alarms were accidentally canceled. At the same time, some other users expressed their dissatisfaction and frustration with the iOS 9.1 vulnerability through Twitter and other social networking sites. In fact, Apple fixed several alarm-related system vulnerabilities in the iOS 9.0.1 update released last month. Apple wrote in the system update notes at the time: "This version of the system fixes the problem that alarms and timers may sometimes not be prompted, fixes the problem that some users cannot complete the setup assistant after updating, and fixes the problem that some users who use custom APN settings through a certain profile will lose cellular data." However, the company failed to discover this alarm vulnerability in the "overnight update" mode in time. In fact, Apple had exposed serious vulnerabilities related to alarms or time long before iOS 9, the most serious of which occurred in 2010. At that time, the iOS 4 operating system was found to have a vulnerability that prevented the calendar application from correctly adjusting the alarm time after the end of daylight saving time. This problem caused some European users to miss appointments or work, and Australian users were "forced to get up an hour earlier." |
