my country shipped 372 million smartphones in 2019, with domestic brands accounting for 90.7%

On January 9, news from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology stated that as of December 2019, my country's smartphone shipments last year were 372 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%, of which 5G mobile phone shipments were 13.769 million units. It is expected that the scale of 5G mobile phone shipments will enter the fast lane next year.

In December 2019, my country's mobile phone shipments were 30.444 million units, of which smartphone shipments were 28.931 million units, 2G mobile phone shipments were 1.461 million units, and 4G mobile phone shipments were 23.57 million units. 5G mobile phone shipments in December hit a new high, with shipments of 5.41 million units.

In terms of brands, a total of 506 new domestic mobile phones were launched in 2019, a year-on-year decrease of 27.2%. The shipment volume of domestic mobile phone brands was 352 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 4.9%. In 2019, domestic mobile phones accounted for 88.3%.

In terms of system composition, the market share of mobile phones equipped with the Andriod system reached 91.2% in 2019. Since the second half of 2019, major manufacturers have released their 5G mobile phones. With the launch of mid-range 5G chips from Qualcomm, MediaTek and Samsung, 5G mobile phones will focus on the mid-range market in the first half of next year, and the proportion of 5G mobile phone shipments will be further increased.
