New evidence shows that the "iPhone 12 notch" is indeed narrower

Twitter whistleblower Jon Prosser shared new images today that appear to be design schematics of Apple's unreleased "iPhone 12," which will have a smaller "bangs" than current iPhones with Face ID.

The first image looks like a CAD illustration, the type of illustrations that sometimes leak from Apple's supply partners. The second appears to be a prototype based on the first and details the hardware that will be housed in the notch.

To achieve a more compact space, the redesigned hardware layout places the ambient light and distance sensors of the TrueDepth camera in a more central position, and the iPhone speaker is located above the phone's bezel instead of between the phone's bezels.

The microphone is not shown in any of the images. Prosser said it is not labeled to emphasize the other hardware, and the microphone is actually located next to the speaker.

There is currently a lot of evidence suggesting that the "bangs" of the new iPhone released in the second half of the year are likely to be narrower, which may be one of the biggest changes in the appearance of the new phone.
