Report: Apple iOS 14 will support all iPhones and iPod touches running iOS 13

Today, according to foreign media macrumors citing information shared by the Israeli website The Verifier, iOS 14 will support all iPhones and iPod touches capable of running iOS 13.

According to reports, the compatibility data was found in a leaked version of iOS 14 and confirmed by The Verifier to be "a trusted source from the system development process."

  • iOS 13 is compatible with iPhone 6s and later. Supported models are as follows:
  • iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone X
  • iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)
  • iPod touch (7th generation)

The information indicates that this is the last iOS version that the iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus and the original iPhone SE will support. This is not surprising, as Apple usually provides software updates for about four to five years after the release of new devices.

There is no information yet on which iPad models will run iPadOS 14, but if iPadOS 14 is compatible with all iPads capable of running iPadOS 13, it will run on the following devices:

  • iPad Pro (12.9-inch), iPad Pro (11-inch), iPad Pro (10.5-inch), iPad Pro (9.7-inch)
  • iPad (7th generation), iPad (6th generation), iPad (5th generation)
  • iPad mini (5th generation), iPad mini 4
  • iPad Air (3rd generation), iPad Air 2

IT Home learned that the French website iPhoneSoft.fr had previously stated that iOS 14 will be compatible with all devices capable of running iOS 13. Apple is expected to launch iOS 14 at the WWDC20 virtual Global Developers Conference on June 22.
