Domestic mobile phone market shipments in the first two months of 2021 reached 61.879 million units

On March 11, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released data on the domestic mobile phone market. From January to February 2021, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market totaled 61.879 million units, a year-on-year increase of 127.5%; a total of 81 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 58.8%. In February, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market reached 21.759 million units, a year-on-year increase of 240.9%; 28 new models of domestic mobile phones were launched, a year-on-year increase of 33.3%.

In terms of 5G mobile phones, from January to February 2021, the domestic market shipped a total of 42.349 million 5G mobile phones, accounting for 68.4% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; 48 new models were launched, accounting for 59.3% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. In February, the domestic market shipped 15.071 million 5G mobile phones and launched 16 new models, accounting for 69.3% and 57.1% respectively.

The data also shows that from January to February 2021, the cumulative shipments of domestic brand mobile phones reached 53.293 million units, a year-on-year increase of 120.4%, accounting for 86.1% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; a total of 77 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 75%, accounting for 95.1% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. In February, the shipments of domestic brand mobile phones reached 19.566 million units, a year-on-year increase of 234%, accounting for 89.9% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; 28 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 47.4%, accounting for 100% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.
