This update is about 197MB in size, which is smaller than last month's update. It fixes a situation where one screen would go black when using Surface Duo in Book Mode. It also fixes an issue with the "Double-click to switch screens" message appearing in Book Mode.

Here are the updates:

  • Addresses the situation outlined in the Android Security Bulletin --May 2021--.
  • Improved device stability and user interface stability.
  • Improves a situation where one screen would go black when using Surface Duo in Book Mode.
  • Fixed a scenario where the "double click to switch screens" message would appear in book mode.
  • We fixed an issue where when using TalkBack with 3-button navigation, the recent apps list would appear on the left screen when invoked from the right screen.

Of course, this isn’t the big Android 11 update that many Surface Duo users were expecting. Still, if you’re still using a Surface Duo today, you can get this update. Just make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi. Then, go into the Settings app, access System, and select System update.
