iPhone is going to kill the password: Apple wants to replace it with Face ID and fingerprint

Are you tired of typing your password manually when logging into your account?

At the WWDC conference, Apple engineer Garrett Davidson said that the company is working to replace the password link when logging into an account with Face ID (facial recognition) and Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) .

It is reported that a new Passkeys function has been added to the iCould keychain of iOS 15 and macOS Monterey. It stores web authentication credentials in iCloud, making it convenient for users to call it after verifying Face ID or fingerprint, thereby automatically filling in account information and achieving a form of password-free.

Apple emphasizes that the iCloud-based keychain storage is end-to-end encrypted, and because it is stored in iCloud, it will not be affected even if the phone is lost.

However, the above functions can only be used on Apple devices. They are said to be working with FIDO, the World Wide Web Organization, etc. to explore a way to use it on non-Apple devices.
