Google is trying to steal Apple users? It will launch an iOS data migration tool. Apple: We’ve been waiting for you for 5 years

Recently, some netizens discovered a "shocking plan" of Google - to poach Apple IOS users.

Is Apple in danger?

No, because they started five years ago...

When the user sets up the initialized phone, SetupWizard will start a "Data Recovery Tool" to help the user recover data from the old phone.

With the launch of Android 12 Beta 3, Google recently updated the software to version 1.0.382048734.

This seemingly ordinary update actually contains a lot of mysteries.

In fact, you can see from the picture that the extremely conspicuous lightning interface is obviously hinting at Google's ambition.

After unpacking the software, netizens discovered a string indicating that Google was intentionally assisting iPhone users in switching to the Android camp.

The initial string prompts the user to download an application called "Switch to Android".

  1. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_first_step" >Step 1 :</string>
  2. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_first_step_message" >Get the <b>Switch to Android</b> app from the App Store®</string>
  3. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_second_step" >Step 2 :</string>
  4. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_second_step_message" >Go to your Wi-Fi settings</string>
  5. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_third_step" >Step 3 :</string>
  6. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_third_step_message" >Connect to network <b>^ 1 </b> and enter password <b>^ 2 </b></string>
  7. <string name= "ios_wifi_hotspot_instructions_title" >Follow these steps on your iPhone</string>

Step 1: Get the Switch to Android app from the App Store

Step 2: Go into your Wi-Fi settings

Step 3: Connect to the network and enter the password

Interestingly, there are two very different ways of saying "connect to a network":

  1. Connect iPhone to Android phone via hotspot
  2. Connect two phones to the same network
  1. <string name= "fragment_ios_decryption_description" >To transfer apps, SMS messages, and contacts, enter your iTunes® backup password</string>
  2. <string name= "fragment_ios_device_management_detected_description" > "Your iPhone® is managed by your organization and has encrypted content. To transfer apps, iCloud® contacts, device contacts, and iMessage® messages, you'll need to remove device management on your iPhone®." </string>
  3. <string name= "fragment_ios_skip_encrypted_data_dialog_description" >Your apps, iCloud® contacts, device contacts, and iMessage® messages won't transfer</string>

Android app developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi was able to reproduce some of the code.

Obviously, before you want to transfer, you first need to enter your iCloud password to cancel the encryption of your iPhone's information.

Additionally, there are strings pointing to the transfer of applications.

Presumably, Google will match apps published on Google Play with apps installed on the iPhone, thereby assisting users in transferring software.

However, this seems to only save users the trouble of manually searching for the software, and the data stored in the software obviously cannot be transferred.

Other strings hint at assistance in transferring “Green Chat” — WhatsApp chat logs — abroad.

  1. <string name= "ios_whatsapp_description" >Scan the QR code with your iPhone to open whatsapp, then tap <b>Start</b></string>
  2. <string name= "ios_whatsapp_export_description" >Keep your iPhone unlocked and whatsapp open</string>
  3. <string name= "ios_whatsapp_export_title" >Getting chats ready…</string>
  4. <string name= "ios_whatsapp_message" >Trouble scanning? On your iPhone, open whatsapp, then go to <b>Settings > Chats > Move Chats to Android</b></string>
  5. <string name= "ios_whatsapp_title" >Transfer whatsapp chats</string>

However, judging from the content, users cannot directly transfer WhatsApp chat history to Android applications.

Instead, it was just some text instructions on how to use WhatsApp's upcoming "Move Chats to Android" feature to transfer data.

This big QR code looks really familiar...

The operation Google is planning is indeed very similar to the "Move to iOS" application that Apple has already launched.

Currently, iPhone users can use Google Drive to back up contacts, photos, videos, calendars, etc.

But the reality is cruel. Google's operating experience can be said to have been crushed by Apple's "move to iOS".

This new "Move to Android" app may be Google's life-saving straw.

However, considering that Apple's sandbox mechanism does not allow apps to access each other's user data, how can Google achieve this function?
