Google will shut down account login for Android 2.3.7 and earlier versions

According to foreign media 9to5Google, Google recently informed users via email that it will no longer support users logging into Google accounts on Android 2.3.7 and earlier versions.

The specific Android versions included are:

  • Android 1.0
  • Android 1.1
  • Android 1.5 Cupcake
  • Android 1.6 Donut
  • Android 2.0 Eclair
  • Android 2.2 Froyo
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread

Google said that this change only affects system and application level logins and will not affect web browser login accounts. This means that users will not be able to log in to applications such as YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive, etc. on these systems.


Google said the change is for account security and will take effect on September 27, 2021.
