Thirty years of mobile phones: from big brothers to smartphones, most mobile phone brands have disappeared

Mobile phones have been used in China for 30 years. I remember that the first time Chinese people used mobile phones was in the early 1990s. The mobile phones at that time were very large and were called "big brothers" or "half bricks". They were said to weigh about one kilogram and were used by big bosses, nouveau riche and profiteers.

At that time, mobile phones were very expensive. Each mobile phone cost 20,000 to 30,000 yuan, which was enough to buy two decent houses. And you had to pay for turning on the phone, which was the so-called power-on fee: as long as you turned on the phone and connected to the signal, you had to pay 1.5 yuan. At that time, the average monthly salary in the country was less than 200 yuan, and 1.5 yuan was equivalent to more than 30 yuan now. When he put the mobile phone on the table at the banquet, he immediately stunned the whole audience.

So at that time, some nouveau riche who had mobile phones would run to the middle of the road at an intersection to make a call, then see if there were many people around. When there were many people around, they would take out their phones and speak as loudly as if they were giving a report through a loudspeaker.

So at that time, mobile phones were luxury goods, and the mobile phone signals were all analog signals. The screen had only two lines and could only display numbers with red light tubes. I remember that my uncle's mobile phone number was 9088177, which was a seven-digit number. And whether you made a call or received a call, you had to pay 1.5 yuan per minute.

A few years later, the mobile phones became smaller and came in more and more shapes. The price also dropped to around RMB 10,000, and the display screen became a black and white LCD screen. It was called the second largest mobile phone, but it also had an analog signal. Basically, Motorola dominated the market, and there were no other brands.

By the end of the 1990s, mobile phones with digital signals appeared on the market. These were the Nokia phones that everyone was very familiar with. Nokia phones were smaller and more portable, and cheaper, so Nokia quickly became mainstream, and many businessmen bought Nokia phones.

Moreover, various models of mobile phones came out one after another, such as bar phones, flip phones, slider phones, etc., ushering in an era of flourishing mobile phones.

There are also many mobile phone brands. For example, there are Motorola, Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, Alcatel, Siemens, Philips, Sony Ericsson, Panasonic, LG, etc. from abroad, and there are even more from China, such as Bird, TCL, Changhong, Panda, Tianyu, ZTE, Xiaxin, Haier, Hisense, Gionee, Shouxin, etc., especially Lenovo mobile phones, which were once very popular.

At this time, the mobile phone screen was still black and white, but it could send and receive text messages. Make and receive calls only within the prefecture-level city. If you go out of the prefecture-level city, even if you are roaming, long-distance charges and roaming charges will be charged for calls, and roaming charges will also be charged for receiving calls, with a roaming fee of 0.8 yuan per minute.

Later, color LCD screens appeared. At first, they were all false colors, and it took a few years before they became true colors. The color screens at the time were very rough, and you could clearly see the large pixels. But it also made many people excited. After all, mobile phone screens had colors, and with the rise of color screens, mobile phones began to enter the smart era.

Some people believe that the first smartphone was the Motorola A6188, a PDA phone with a touch screen. This phone had its own operating system and could access the Internet via WAP1.1 wireless network. Later, Nokia launched the 7650, the world's first smartphone based on the Symbian OS operating system, and it was also equipped with a camera. Subsequently, major mainstream brands launched smartphones one after another, among which Samsung was at its peak.

But later, Steve Jobs returned to Apple and launched the landmark iPhone 4, which immediately caused a huge sensation. In addition, a young man in China sold his kidney in order to buy this phone, which became a widely circulated classic black humor.

Subsequently, domestic smart phone newcomers Huawei and Xiaomi rose. Currently, Huawei, Honor and Xiaomi have become the absolute main force in the domestic mobile phone rankings, and most of the mobile phone brands that were once popular have disappeared. For example, Bird, Panda, Haier, Hisense, TCL, Panasonic, Sony, Ericsson, Alcatel, Siemens, Philips, Amoi, LeTV and other mobile phone brands have basically disappeared from the market, and big brands such as Samsung, Lenovo, Motorola, Nokia and others are rarely seen around us now.

Today's smart phones are becoming more and more powerful. They can not only watch movies, TV series and listen to music, but also watch short videos, take photos and videos, surf the Internet, make mobile payments, navigate, and download various software. The functions are infinitely expanded. Mobile phones have become the most important information center and Internet terminal. However, some big-name mobile phone manufacturers that were once glorious have now become yesterday's news.

This is in line with the old saying: "The market is like sailing against the current, if you don't move forward, you will fall behind." Seeing these old mobile phones that you were once very familiar with, do they evoke some sighs and memories in you?
