According to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, in 2021, the total shipments of mobile phones in the domestic market reached 351 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%. Among them, the shipments of 5G mobile phones reached 266 million units, a year-on-year increase of 63.5%, accounting for 75.9% of the mobile phone shipments in the same period.

The report said that in 2021, a total of 483 new mobile phone models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%, including 227 5G mobile phones, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%, accounting for 47.0% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

In terms of brand composition, in 2021, the total shipments of domestic brand mobile phones reached 304 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, accounting for 86.6% of the mobile phone shipments in the same period; a total of 438 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, accounting for 90.7% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.
