iOS 16.3 battery life test is out, improving

Last Tuesday, Apple released the official iOS 16.3 update, which brought support for the new HomePod, SOS emergency contact optimization, and Apple ID security key features. I believe many friends have already updated, but many users have reported that the iPhone consumes more power after the update, and some have reported that the battery life is better.

Recently, foreign blogger iAppleBytes conducted a benchmark test on the battery life of iOS 16.3. As usual, iAppleBytes found 6 iPhone models this time, namely iPhone 8, iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 12, and iPhone 13.

With the help of the battery test function provided by the GeekBench tool, the running scores and automatic shutdown time of 6 iPhones after upgrading to iOS 16.3 system were compared.

The screen brightness of each phone was adjusted to 25%, and the automatic brightness adjustment function was turned off (maintaining the same settings as when testing previous iOS versions). The results showed that the time it took for the iPhone to run GeekBench from full power until it automatically shut down was as follows:

Comparing the battery life performance before iOS 16.1 and iOS 16.2, the overall battery life of iOS 16.3 is better than that of iOS 16. It is a pity that there is no comparison with the iPhone 14 model. I hope that it can be added to the test later.

In addition, Apple also closed the verification channel for the official version of iOS 16.2 today, which means that users who have upgraded to the official version of iOS 16.3 will no longer be able to downgrade back to iOS 16.2 and earlier systems. At the same time, the verification channels for the official versions of iOS12.5.6 and iOS 15.7.2 were also closed.
