To facilitate fishing, bald eagles build their nests in large trees along the coasts of rivers, lakes, or oceans, using and building the same nest year after year.
The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States. Because of its majestic and powerful appearance and its native North America, it is deeply loved by the American people. Therefore, shortly after independence, on June 20, 1782, President Clark and the U.S. Congress passed a resolution designating the bald eagle as the national bird. As the national bird of the United States, the bald eagle has become one of the most important symbols of the country, and its image appears on many badges, such as the U.S. presidential coat of arms.
In some North American cultures, the bald eagle is a sacred bird, its feathers resembling those of a golden eagle, and it plays a vital role in many Native American religions and customs. These Native Americans believe the bald eagle is a messenger between gods and humans.
