Argentinosaurus is rarely found. This is a model of one of the giant vertebrae (skeleton) of this dinosaur on display at the American Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles County.

The Titanosaur Argentinosaurus is another of the largest land animals ever to have existed. But it is only known from fragmentary remains, which makes calculating its size, especially its weight, very difficult.


The fossils of this dinosaur were first discovered in 1987 in Neuquén Province, Argentina. Paleontologists found fossils of its leg bones, some vertebrae and ribs, as well as part of its sacrum (a fused group of vertebrae located at its base).
