Can I return to my hometown to visit graves during the Qingming Festival in 2022? Do not return to your hometown to visit graves unless necessary. Given the current epidemic situation, many regions have implemented strict entry and exit policies. The rural area where the editor lives has also issued relevant regulations on returning home to worship the dead during the Qingming Festival: remote worship is encouraged, and people do not need to return home unless necessary. If they really need to return home, they must report to the village in advance. All returnees must check their travel code, health code, and proof of negative nucleic acid test within 48 hours, and monitor their health for 14 days. 2. Notice on Tomb Sweeping Day in Various Places in 2022 1. Regulations on Tomb Sweeping Day in Beijing due to the Beijing Epidemic in 2022: This year’s Tomb Sweeping Day methods include appointment-based tomb sweeping, tomb sweeping on behalf of others, and online tomb sweeping. The civil affairs department advises citizens to avoid peak hours and make appointments after the service is launched. People who have made appointments should take personal protection measures when entering funeral service agencies and must wear masks. Those who do not wear masks will be prohibited from entering. If there is a queue, they must maintain a distance. The civil affairs department urges citizens to avoid in-person memorial services as much as possible, and instead choose family memorial services, online memorial services, and proxy memorial services. People who really need to visit the site to pay homage to the deceased can make an appointment and register, and visit the graves in limited time periods. 2. Starting from March 17, funeral services in Ninghe District and Jinghai District of Tianjin will be suspended during the Qingming Festival; on-site memorial services will be provided during this period. Starting from March 16, Dongli District, Jinnan District, Beichen District and Binhai New Area will suspend on-site memorial services during the Qingming Festival by funeral service agencies in our district. Starting from March 14, 2022, Wuqing District will suspend the on-site memorial services of Wuqing District funeral service agencies during the Qingming Festival. On March 15, 2022, all cemeteries, columbariums and other funeral service institutions in Xiqing District will suspend on-site memorial services. The resumption time will be notified separately. 3. All cemeteries and columbariums in Nanjing City have suspended on-site memorial services, and the reservation channel is temporarily closed. Please pay close attention to changes in the epidemic and related announcements. After on-site memorial services resume, the reservation channel will be restarted. The original reservation for the time period after the reservation channel is restarted will remain valid. Please make a new reservation if the original reservation has expired. 4. Xi'an City On March 23, Xi'an City issued an announcement on civilized tomb sweeping for the 2022 Qingming Festival. From the date of the announcement until April 5, all people who need to pay homage on site must make an appointment with the funeral service agency where the ceremony will be held at least one day in advance (the appointment method is attached). Each funeral service agency must control the number of appointments within 30% of the maximum capacity of the day and feedback the appointment results to the people who are paying homage. 5. Guangzhou City recommends postponing tomb sweeping or expressing grief online. On March 16, Pang Hongyao, second-level inspector and spokesperson of the Guangzhou Civil Affairs Bureau, said that the Qingming Festival is approaching, and people who plan to visit various cemeteries to pay homage are advised to postpone the visit or choose to express their grief online. 6. On-site tomb sweeping is suspended throughout Shenzhen. All cemeteries, columbariums, deep green areas and other funeral service venues in Shenzhen will suspend on-site memorial activities by citizens from March 14; collective public memorial services, sea burials (except for scattering on behalf of others), tree burials and other activities that gather crowds will be suspended; and the payment of cemetery management fees, ash storage fees and other fees will be postponed. The recovery time will be notified separately. 7. On-site tomb sweeping is suspended throughout Dongguan City. Starting from March 21, all funeral service venues including funeral homes, cemeteries, columbariums, rural cemeteries, ancestral halls in Dongguan will suspend on-site memorial activities; postpone collective public memorial services, sea burials, tree burials and other activities that gather crowds; and postpone the payment of cemetery management fees, ash storage fees and other fees. The recovery time will be announced separately. 8. All funeral service institutions including funeral homes and cemeteries in Hohhot City will temporarily suspend on-site memorial service reception. 9. Hangzhou City implements appointment-based tomb sweeping during the Qingming Festival. From March 26 to April 6, 25 larger cemeteries in Hangzhou implemented a reservation-first-then-residence system. Those without reservations were not allowed to enter the cemeteries. In general, whether you can return to your hometown to visit graves during the Qingming Festival in 2022 depends on the epidemic situation in your area and the epidemic prevention requirements of the destination. It is recommended that you consult the local relevant departments in advance. |
