Another winter has passed with a bang!

Looking back on this winter (December 2023 to February 2024), there must be some extreme cold and extreme rain and snow in your memory!

Especially during the Spring Festival travel season, the rare, large-scale, continuous rain, snow and freezing weather added to the chill and was very impressive!

In December , there were four cold fronts in China, and the daily minimum temperatures at 191 national meteorological stations reached the extreme event standard:

In January , four cold air processes affected China, which were warm at first and then cold.

In between several strong cold waves, there were also several sharp rebounds in temperature !

For example, the national average temperature in January 2024 was the sixth highest in the same period since 1961.

For example, in mid-January, some stations in Chongqing, Sichuan, Gansu, Shaanxi, Hubei and other places even experienced rare warmth during the same period, and 11 stations broke the highest temperature record for the entire January:

Affected by the cold wave, the national average temperature remained low in mid-to-late December, late January, early February, and late February.

High period:

In early December, late December to mid-January, and mid-February, the temperature continued to be significantly warmer .

Therefore, in summary, the national average temperature this winter (December 2023-February 2024) is still 0.32℃ higher than the same period of previous years:

Even though this winter was so cold in my memory, with rain, snow and ice everywhere, it still cannot be called a "cold winter".

Of course, my country is a vast country with rich resources, and the situation in each region is different. From the perspective of spatial distribution, the uneven distribution of cold and warm weather this winter is also one of its characteristics:

Southern North China, the Huanghuai and Jianghuai areas were mostly colder , while southern China and southwest China were mostly warmer . The entire province of Yunnan experienced the warmest winter since 1961.
