The biopharmaceutical industry has attracted much attention from all walks of life and has become one of the focuses of the new round of global scientific and technological revolution and national strength competition. The R&D and innovation capabilities of the biopharmaceutical industry have steadily increased, and the scale has accelerated. From a global perspective, the scale of the biopharmaceutical market has grown rapidly and steadily. Among them, American biopharmaceuticals dominate the global market, and the total output value of related industries accounts for about 17% of GDP . The R&D strength and industrial development lead the world; Western Europe, Japan and other developed countries are also major countries for the research and development and production of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products. From 2018 to 2021 , the overall scale of China's biopharmaceutical market increased from 262.2 billion yuan to 464.4 billion yuan, with an average annual compound growth rate of 20% .

We strive to make it a strong driving force for high-quality development by 2025 , with the total scale reaching a new level and the comprehensive scientific and technological strength being newly improved; by 2035 , we will be at the forefront of the world and basically form a new development situation with leading technology level, strong industrial strength, extensive integrated application, strong resource guarantee, controllable safety risks and complete institutional system. Here, we have conducted a statistical analysis of the number of invention patent applications for the global biopharmaceutical industry published from January 1 , 2022 to June 15 , 2022 for reference.

The patents in the biopharmaceutical industry involve technical fields such as biotechnology drugs, genetic engineering drugs, vaccines, diagnostic reagents, microecological preparations, and blood products. The listed companies / hospitals mainly come from 13 countries , organizations or regions . There are 3 companies with more than 600 patents .
