The 2015 Global GameJam came to a successful conclusion yesterday (January 25). This year, with the assistance of KTplay, Global GameJam was fully launched in China for the first time. Global GameJam is the world's largest offline GameJam event. Currently, there are more than 60 cities, more than 300 sites and thousands of game developers participating at the same time every year. This past weekend was also the first time that Global GameJam was fully launched in China. Independent game developers can not only participate in official offline events in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, but also participate in online team development.
The Global GameJam Beijing Station is undoubtedly a feast for independent game developers. At the Beijing Station, more than 300 developers signed up, and 33 teams were successfully formed at the venue, of which 80% of the teams completed game development. Global GameJam once again made industry players realize the value of independent games. Since independent games themselves are not for commercial purposes and are not interfered by external factors, independent games are more personal and team-oriented, and the game content also pursues breakthroughs and innovations in gameplay. Independent game developers and developers have always played the role of industry innovation promoters. With their efforts, countless new game types, models and innovative products have been born. For example, this year's popular "Monument Valley" brought players a great adventure combining psychedelic architecture and wonderful geometric bodies, subverting people's traditional perception of level adventures, and its insistence on the paid download model is also completely different from commercial games.
Independent games have made great contributions to promoting innovation in the game industry, but they need space for healthy growth. How can we help the game industry develop more healthily? How can we help independent game developers survive better? How can we help the independent game developer ecosystem? KTplay's full support for Global GameJam's full landing in China is a very positive industry example. Currently, KTplay (www.KTplay.com)'s social engine and operation components include a series of highly practical functions and systems such as in-game communities, friend relationships, online activities, rankings, in-game notifications, reward systems, cross-promotions, etc., with up to 36 different oriented solutions, which have formed the most complete and effective social operation solution system. Independent game developers can completely solve the community and operation problems by simply choosing the solution suitable for their own products. KTplay, which has just finished its internal beta, has covered more than 100 million mobile game players and helped more than 600 mobile games achieve social and operation, providing strong support for developers. With the end of the internal beta, KTplay will fully open two major tools to the developer market for free to effectively help developers build a complete social and operation system within mobile games. It is hoped that similar activities will bring together more passionate game developers, spark new explorations into game play, encourage more exchanges among developers, and thus promote the development of the game industry. |
