Why not choose one year of training instead of four years of university?

I am a college student. I am currently attending an ordinary first-class undergraduate school, and computer science is not our school's strong subject.

At the end of my junior year, I would like to express my views on what I have seen this semester.

This semester, many training institutions came to the school to give lectures, all of which guaranteed employment without paying a certain salary or tuition fees, and also offered great packages for paying tuition fees in installments. Many students also signed up for training.

Many students choose training, and they believe that training will help them find good jobs. However, establishing themselves in society seems to have little to do with university. This gives people a very bad feeling: going to university is not very useful.

(Some people say that Gates, Jobs, Ellison, Zuckerberg... all don't have a college degree. Although these people don't have a college degree, they all have certain talents that you and I don't have, so don't compare them.)

The current situation in China is that many students who study other majors cannot find a job or a suitable job after graduation. They get a pathetic salary and their employment prospects seem to be very uncertain. There are no connections at home, so this is the only way. There are also many students who choose to study abroad. Of course, not everyone can pass the exam. Being admitted to graduate school does not mean that you can find a suitable job and have a comfortable life in the future.

Compared with other industries, the IT industry has developed very well in recent years. Regardless of the major of the students, many of them cross industries to do this kind of work. In addition, the basic code farmers can be trained very quickly, and the salary is much higher than that of other industries, so many training institutions are doing a booming business, and many students are also happy to choose training institutions to redeem their decadent college years, or to redeem their confused future.

However, many students who had high hopes for training still waited for the holidays to go for training as before. Even the choice of which training institution and which training direction to choose was a mechanical choice without much thought. They chose whichever one they listened to the presentation of, and went to whichever one their classmates went to. Their classmates all trained in Java, and they also trained in Java. When asked: Why did they go for Java training instead of training in iOS and Android, which have been better in recent years, they answered: No, I haven't been exposed to it. Do you know Java? Many students can't even write a good course design in Java.

From this perspective, it seems that college is useless. Many students who finish the college entrance examination and enter college feel like they have entered "heaven". They live a comfortable life every day. Boys play LOL and Dota in the dormitory every day, and girls are addicted to TV dramas and novels. In less than a semester, they go from being college students who know nothing about astronomy and geography to college students who don't sleep at night and can't get up in the morning. Of course, not all students are like this. There are also quite a few students who are proactive. Whether it is a 985 prestigious school or an ordinary college, every morning in the school playground or under the roadside trees, you can see students practicing oral English in the morning. This is the most representative. There are also those who you don't easily notice, those who spend every day in the study room, and those who don't go back to the dormitory every day and sleep on the floor in the laboratory...

For the former, university is a place where one is never tired of destroying others; for the latter, university is a place where one is never tired of teaching others.

So it’s not that college is useless, but your attitude makes it useless.

Training can indeed help us develop practical skills in a short period of time, but that’s because we concentrate on learning knowledge in those few months.

Every year, there are many experts who do not choose training. They participate in ACM, work on projects with mentors, self-study professional courses, and through hard work, they sign great offers. There are also those who participate in training but only get very low salaries.

A few days ago, the head teacher looked at the students in the class who placed their complete hopes on training, and said worriedly, "They all think that training can find them a job, but they spend all day playing games online in the dormitory. This is definitely not possible. Training can only teach you skills. If you want to completely change as a person, it depends on you."

Everyone has the right to choose their life! It is not the students who bury their heads in coding and study every day who are right, nor is it the students who immerse themselves in the dormitory and the spiritual world who are wrong. After all, everyone has different ways to get happiness.

However, if you want to change, start by changing yourself. Training institutions cannot truly save you. The only one who can pull you down from your comfortable bed and get you out of your warm dormitory is you.

Attitude is very important! How you treat your present life will determine how life will treat you in the future.
