Imagine that Apple Music had a serious bug that caused the system to crash every time it was launched. To fix this problem, Apple would need to release a system-wide update. This would mean system restarts and long waits. In 2015, such a scenario would undoubtedly be ridiculous.

On the other hand, users have begun to hesitate whether to upgrade to the latest version of iOS. The speed of iOS 8's popularity has reflected this. In this case, it will be more difficult to fix the Apple Music vulnerability on all devices through system updates.

If Apple Music is a standalone app, Apple can more easily fix the problem and release the installation package without causing any interruption to users. App developers already have many tools to quickly iterate on versions, but Apple's model limits the speed at which the company can develop its own apps.
