Why can QQ suddenly be deregistered? How much do you know about the great things that have been implemented in recent years?

Recently, the news that "QQ accounts can be cancelled" has attracted the attention of many netizens. Tencent QQ briefly launched the account cancellation service, but it was offline again after a while.

According to Tencent's explanation, this is just a grayscale test, and the logout service will be launched again after the function is optimized.

The reason why the ability to cancel QQ registration has attracted attention is that for a long time, there has been a very unique phenomenon in the Chinese Internet - once you register an account, there is usually no turning back, and once you register, the ID will accompany you for life.

However, this phenomenon is somewhat abnormal in foreign countries. When registering for certain foreign Internet services such as Google, you can often find a logout button to completely delete your account.

Not being able to cancel an ID is not a good setting. On the one hand, it will lead to fewer and fewer available IDs. On the other hand, it means that the user's data will always be retained on the server. If you don't want to use the services of a certain website but your information is still stored there, how insecure it is!

In addition, since there is no way to cancel the ID, it is often difficult to change the ID when it is bound to a mobile phone. There is no doubt that the QQ number can be cancelled, which is a good thing.

In fact, more and more domestic online services have recently been able to allow users to log out. In addition to QQ, WeChat and Sina Weibo accounts have also added a logout mechanism.

Why did such a good thing suddenly come out of nowhere? This has a lot to do with the new regulations implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Online accounts can be cancelled

Let's first talk about the implementation of the account cancellation mechanism mentioned above. In fact, many netizens have long been full of resentment about the inability to cancel their accounts. Many netizens have reported the problem that domestic Internet services cannot cancel accounts, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has responded to this.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that according to Article 43 of the Cybersecurity Law of the People's Republic of China, if an individual finds that a network operator has violated the provisions of laws, administrative regulations or the agreement between the two parties to collect and use their personal information, they have the right to request the network operator to delete their personal information; if they find that the personal information collected and stored by the network operator is wrong, they have the right to request the network operator to correct it. The network operator shall take measures to delete or correct it.

Driven by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, more and more Internet services have provided cancellation services. Apart from QQ, there are many other examples. For example, WeChat has long been unable to cancel accounts, but it finally launched a cancellation service in the second half of last year.

Other companies that have also added cancellation services include Sina Weibo, Taobao, Alipay, etc. Although there are still many online services that cannot be cancelled, we can still be optimistic as they are driven by these giants.

In addition, if you find that a certain network service cannot be cancelled, you might as well file a complaint with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It may have the same effect as complaining to the operator about prohibiting the modification of the package.

Pre-installed apps must be uninstallable

In addition to promoting the account cancellation mechanism, other Internet services have also been regulated. In the era of mobile Internet, apps have become more and more mobile, but apps have suddenly become more and more difficult to move - at least it is difficult to move pre-installed apps.

Many mobile phones, whether iOS or Android, are pre-installed with more and more apps. People may not necessarily be able to use the functions of these pre-installed apps, but they still have to take up space in vain.

Do mobile phone manufacturers force you to use apps? Many users do not think so. A regulation from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has made it even more difficult for pre-installed apps to gain a foothold.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued relevant regulations in 2016, requiring mobile phone manufacturers and software vendors to ensure that all pre-installed software except basic function software must be uninstallable.

In the past, many mobile phone manufacturers would cooperate with third parties to pre-install third-party apps in the system that could not be uninstalled. After this regulation was issued, this phenomenon has been greatly reduced. Although there are still mobile phone manufacturers that pre-install third-party apps in the ROM, these apps can basically be uninstalled through ordinary methods.

What is rare is that this regulation from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also affects iOS, and the stubborn Apple has to provide users with channels to uninstall or hide certain pre-installed apps.

Cancel data roaming charges

In addition to the cancellation of QQ numbers, there is another piece of news that has attracted much attention recently, that is, the "roaming fee" for data traffic is finally going to be cancelled! The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has clearly stated that it will cancel the "roaming fee" for data traffic before July 1 this year, which means that data traffic will no longer be calculated separately within and outside the province.

The current situation is that although some of the traffic packages launched by operators seem to be quite a lot, there are differences in traffic within and outside the province, and the national traffic is very limited. What's more, there is also traffic within the city. If you accidentally cross a highway, the network traffic fee will increase dramatically, which is a headache.

There is no doubt that the move to cancel the data "roaming fee" is in the interests of users. If the total amount of data remains unchanged, this can save users a lot of money. With the promotion of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this year we will usher in an era of unified data charges across the country.

Unused traffic will not be cleared

Now that we are talking about traffic, we have to mention the non-zero traffic measure implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology in 2015. Before, if the traffic in the package was not used up within a month, the traffic would be calculated again in the next month, and the remaining traffic from the previous month could not be carried over to this month.

For example, if your data package is 1G per month, and you have used 500M this month, your data usage for next month will also be 1G, and you cannot continue to use the remaining 500M.

In fact, the traffic packages launched by operators all over the world are basically similar, and the unused traffic will be reset next month.

However, the implementation of such a traffic algorithm in China still caused dissatisfaction among many people. Some people cited the example of taking away unfinished food in a restaurant to prove the rationality of being able to continue using unused traffic. In response, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology made a decision that was in line with public opinion.

Starting from October 2015, under the promotion of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the three major operators have implemented the measure of not clearing the data service flow of the monthly package for all users. Of course, the flow is not indefinitely cleared, and the remaining flow can be retained for one month, but this is good enough.

Cancel roaming charges

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will implement the cancellation of data "roaming fees". The reason for this move should be related to the previous cancellation of call roaming fees. Everyone is familiar with call roaming fees. Usually, the roaming fees discussed by people refer to them.

Roaming charges have a long history, and operators have been charging roaming charges since 1994. The reason given by operators is to balance network resources.

The operators said that network resources in the east and west of China are unevenly distributed. The network resources in the east are well developed and the charges are cheap. If there were no roaming charges, a large number of users would open numbers in the eastern region. At that time, there was no real-name system for mobile phone numbers, and it was very convenient to buy and sell numbers across regions.

In this way, when users in the west use numbers in the east, the fee income will belong to the east, which will aggravate the unbalanced development of the network. The setting of roaming fees can increase the cost of using numbers across regions and reduce the imbalance of network development between regions.

However, roaming charges have long been out of line with the development needs of this era. As people's activities expand, the high cost of roaming charges and confusing charges have become increasingly prominent, while operators are increasingly relying less on communication fees to make a living.

So, after the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced last year that it would cancel all domestic long-distance and roaming charges for mobile phones within the year, operators followed suit and implemented the plan ahead of schedule. Now, there is basically no such thing as roaming charges for calls in China.

The package must be convertible

In recent years, operators have launched various affordable Internet packages. Compared with traditional tariff packages, Internet packages generally include more data flow, and many Internet apps are free of data flow, which is very affordable.

However, Internet packages are often only available to new users, and old users can only continue to use the old, expensive and limited packages. This makes users dissatisfied, and they say that the new Internet packages are simply "not available to old users and dogs."

Later, users discovered that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology had already made the second requirement in Document No. 630 (2006): within the same mobile phone location, users can choose to use all the company's tariff plans without changing their numbers.

For a time, the complaint page of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was flooded with complaints. Many old users first contacted customer service to request better Internet packages. If they were rejected, they would turn to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to complain.

It has to be said that complaining to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is still very effective. Once the operator receives feedback from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, it is very likely to change its attitude immediately. What package do you want to change? You can choose!

Due to too many user complaints, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology held talks with the three major operators and explicitly required them not to restrict users' tariff selection rights. If they did, they should immediately rectify the situation. At the same time, the operators must also clearly define the timetable for the transformation of the Internet package system, announce it to the public in a timely manner, and implement online processing for old users as soon as possible.

Thanks to the strong measures taken by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a large number of users have already used more affordable Internet packages. As the operator that has been the most active in launching Internet packages, China Unicom's performance may have been affected by this. It continued to rise last year, with a net profit of 2.59 billion in 2017, an annual increase of 231%, which is really amazing.

Summarize

It can be seen that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other relevant departments have indeed implemented a lot of good things in recent years. In fact, if you are dissatisfied with certain services, complaining to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is an effective solution. So what kind of bad things can you complain to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology?

I have written about this before, you can click here to view it. The Internet is changing rapidly, I hope that laws and regulations can keep pace with the times in the future, so that the information age can become orderly.
