Apple releases latest operating system, Siri can learn to quack like a duck

As long as you upgrade to Apple’s latest iPhone operating system iOS 14.3, your Siri can learn to call like ducks and lions.

Apple released the official versions of iOS 14.3, iPadOS 14.3, and watchOS 7.2 on Monday. If your iPhone is upgraded to iOS 14.3, Siri will be able to play a lot of short audio to answer questions about what something sounds like.

For example, all you have to do is ask, "Hey Siri, what does a duck sound like?" and Siri will respond by playing the sound of a duck quacking.

The sounds built into iOS 14.3 now include animals, musical instruments, and vehicles, and Apple says there are hundreds of options. On an iPhone or iPad, Siri will also display a picture of the animal and a link to more information on Wikipedia.

Here are some examples of things you can do through Apple Ask:

“Hey Siri, what does a humpback whale sound like?”

“Hey Siri, what does a toy poodle sound like?”

“Hey Siri, what does a harp sound like?”

“Hey Siri, what does a fire truck sound like?”

The media also tried several other animals to test Siri, including house cats, lions, vultures, and kookaburras, a bird that sounds like a person laughing. Siri also played several car sounds, a train whistle, and a brief sample of a theremin.

If you ask, "what does the fox say?" Siri will quote the song that became a YouTube hit in 2013. But when you ask, "what does the fox bark?" it will produce the actual barking sound of an Arctic fox.

The audio played by Siri is real, not exaggerated or cartoonish.

Apple said the new feature is part of iOS 14.3, which includes support for Apple Fitness+ and AirPods Max. The system update also added the ability to take Apple ProRAW photos on the iPhone 12 Pro and introduced "Privacy" information in the App Store, as well as other features and bug fixes for the iPhone.
