From confirming the intention to putting the masks into production, it took only 72 hours for Yuechi, a poverty-stricken county in Sichuan Province, to urgently build a medical mask factory. The factory currently produces more than 40,000 medical surgical masks per day and will further expand its production capacity.

On February 1, Yuechi County, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province decided to attract medical mask production companies from across the country. If a protective equipment company can invest in Yuechi within 3 to 5 days, Yuechi County will provide funds for the purchase of production equipment, equipment transportation logistics costs, and free clean workshops, and help the company obtain certificates and licenses; if the company has idle equipment that can be used to produce medical masks and protective products, Yuechi can invest in the purchase. Priority will be given to those producing N95 masks and protective equipment.

At around 7 o'clock that evening, a medical mask company in Henan expressed its intention to build a factory. The Yuechi County Investment Promotion Bureau immediately contacted and arranged personnel to transport production equipment from Henan, and purchased raw materials from Henan, Guangzhou and Dongguan. On the afternoon of February 3, the production equipment arrived in Yuechi, and trial production began in the temporary factory at 7 pm on February 4. Currently, we can produce 40,000 pieces per day, and the production capacity will be further released in the next step. The factory aims to start producing N95 masks by mid-February and prepare to produce medical protective clothing two months later. It is understood that the masks that have been produced will not be sold to the public for the time being, and all of them will be handed over to the local epidemic prevention and control command center.

Yuechi was originally a provincially designated poverty-stricken county in Sichuan Province. It was removed from the list of poverty-stricken counties in April 2019.

In addition, Yuechi also actively coordinated with local pharmaceutical companies to vacate a production plant of approximately 500 square meters as a temporary factory for this Henan company in Yuechi. Other relevant departments actively coordinated the processing of certificates and licenses and other services for the company.

On the afternoon of February 3, the production equipment arrived in Yuechi. "We immediately transferred more than 10 technicians from Yuechi's pharmaceutical companies to install and debug the production equipment. At 7 p.m. on February 4, the factory began trial production." Zhang Junlong said that at present the company can only produce surgical medical masks, with a capacity of approximately 40,000 per day. "These masks are not for sale to the public for the time being. We will hand them all over to the local epidemic prevention and control headquarters."

It is understood that Yuechi is speeding up the renovation of the official factory building of the mask production enterprise and allowing the enterprise to move in as soon as possible, striving to achieve the production of N95 masks in mid-February and prepare for the production of medical protective clothing two months later.
