I have been engaged in Internet operations for only three years, and I have summed up some experiences and methods in my work that I would like to share with you. As an operator, you must love this job from the bottom of your heart. It is not just a way to make money to support your family. For me, it is a channel to explore the new world. If you are not truly passionate about the job, you will soon complain about it, become restless, become discouraged, and even blame others for your failure to perform your duties at work. The work of operations is very complex, so complex that you can’t summarize it in any short sentence for others to understand. Therefore, many operations personnel self-deprecatingly say: “I am just a handyman.” Regarding the improvement of my job, I will describe it from the following three aspects: 1. Personally contact the work content of the people you need to cooperate with The operator is a "coser". You need to play many roles, including editing, planning, art, business, product, sales, operation... The above contents do not necessarily require professionalism or omnipotence, but you do need to understand the principles behind them. Otherwise, you will not be able to cooperate well with other people's work and will make your own work more difficult. The most common problem is the conflict between product managers and operations staff. Two people who cannot understand each other can only talk at cross purposes when thinking about the problem from their own perspectives, but there is no right or wrong here, as they are all fighting for their own share. So I often say that if you don’t understand the operation of a product, it is not a good operation, and if you don’t understand the operation of a product, it is not a good product. For example, the name of the project I’m working on now is JiheLa, an activity-based social application. The first version of the product is very simple, which is version 1.0.5 that is now available on the app store. It only displays activity information and is not of great value to users, so a second version of the product is needed. As an operations staff, I was very fortunate to participate in the design of the new version with colleagues from the product department and the technical development department. From proposing requirements to prototype design to confirming production, it was a very valuable experience for me. After actually getting involved in it, I found that product work is actually not as simple as I imagined. The product department needs to coordinate with the operations and technical departments and act as a bridge to communicate and realize needs. Product managers and operations managers think about problems differently. If a functional requirement is put into practice, will it be inconsistent with the original product? Will it cause logical errors? Will it delay or increase development progress? Often times, a simple small function will affect changes in other functional modules within the product. The product operation process is a closed loop, and the logic must be very rigorous. So, don't complain that the product manager doesn't do what you asked for, just because we don't have a deep understanding of the complexity of this work. In order to better cooperate with the product, you can try the following solutions: 1. List the requirements item by item and prioritize them. Mark each one to see if it is a temporary feature or a feature that will remain unchanged in the future. Also, mark the reason for each requirement, whether it is an activity requirement or an incomplete function of the original product. Then take this to discuss with your product manager. Don’t just ignore the requirements. If the product cannot be made, ask why and whether there are alternative solutions. 2. When there is no demand, establish a good relationship with your product manager and discuss the product with him more. You will find that communication can give you new ideas and help you better understand the product. Once you really understand it, it will be easier to promote it. 3. Take your favorite product or competitor as the research object, analyze the reason for the existence of each function, how these functions are used during promotion, or what new functions are added during promotion, and how long it takes for version iteration. Product managers are not the only ones who need to do competitive product analysis. 4. Don’t always complain that the products made by the product manager are crap. Find ways to make truly useful demands on the product manager within the scope of your own job responsibilities. 2. Improving yourself requires a positive attitude As an operator, you must have the right mindset. Don't think that if you do more, you will lose money, work less and be exhausted. If you become an operations master, are you still afraid that there will be no one to hire you to do things for a high price? ! I believe that many operations people have played the role of web editors. Most of the time, the work is very mechanical and boring. There is not much content that needs to be edited. It is just repeated copying and pasting, and uploading content from the backend to the backend. But don't underestimate this job. Daily repetitive work will make you consciously improve your efficiency and speed up the speed at which your brain processes information. It will also remind you that even the simplest work requires accuracy. Operations are the people closest to users, so it is very important to deliver accurate, timely and clear information to users. This will affect your relationship with users and their trust in the product itself. Operations work is tedious and complicated, so you have to be more serious, adjust your mindset, calm down, stay steady, do your job seriously, and don't complain. The more you complain, the less interest you will have in the job itself. 3. How to improve the lack of capabilities in one aspect of operations Since each operator has different work experience, there will always be situations where they are lacking in ability in certain areas. Here are four simple points. 1. If you are not good at copywriting and soft articles, you can find more excellent soft articles and copywriting to analyze. If you find it troublesome to search, you can ask for help from the omnipotent Taobao, spend some money to buy a bunch of them, analyze and study them, saving time and effort. 2. If you are insufficient in keyword search, if you have never worked on websites before and have directly engaged in mobile operations and promotions, it is recommended that you start with simple SEO. Although very few people are doing website promotion now, the methods and techniques can be used and referenced. I recommend a book called "SEO Practical Code", which is very practical. 3. If the problem is with the promotion method, my suggestion is that before you start the promotion work, you should understand the various promotion methods, whether they are free or paid, make a table, and then analyze the pros and cons of each method, combined with your own products and budget, choose the promotion method that suits your own products. Don't try it casually without a plan, which will waste time and money and not have much effect. Understand and communicate with multiple channel business and other product operations personnel. 4. If you are lacking in activities, please consider the content of the activities according to the following three points: 1. What kind of information does the activity want to convey to users and what kind of effect will it achieve; 2. What kind of user group is it targeted for and what are the preferences of most of them; 3. What is the form of the activity and how to mobilize your users to actively and voluntarily participate. As for the budget and resources of the activity, they are considered after the above three points. If you have time, you can participate in more marketing activities, participate in the entire process, and then learn and summarize. This article is from OPP Software Park.
