According to the Jiangxia District Media Center of Wuhan City, as early as March this year, Jiangxia District prepared 60 tons of soybeans for flood prevention. Due to the recent rising water level of the Yangtze River, they purchased another 300 tons of dry soybeans from surrounding areas. These 360 ​​tons of soybeans are stored in the Jinkou electric pumping station and Fanhu grain depot for easy access at any time.

In addition to soybeans, Jiangxia District also added 1,000 cubic meters of sand and gravel materials some time ago, which were stored in the Juzihao section yard for use in dealing with dangerous situations on the main dike of the Yangtze River.

To deal with this dangerous situation, water storage counter pressure (commonly known as water basin) is a useful method, that is, by raising the water level in the pipe surge area to reduce the head difference inside and outside the embankment, thereby reducing the seepage pressure, the water flows to the lower place instead of overflowing, thus preventing the foundation from being hollowed out. This is when soybeans come in handy.

Since soybeans absorb water strongly, when they are thrown into a "water basin", the volume of the beans will increase, which can not only raise the water level but also fill the gaps between the gravel.
