The TikTok case becomes a real practice!

These two days, I suddenly found that many classmates were studying how to restore old photos on Douyin.

Among them, a blurry old photo restoration video by @老照片修复(栗子) received 930,000 likes and 30,000 comments; and @八色数码 created more than 20 matrix accounts dedicated to old photo restoration.

The core logic of these accounts is to attract traffic to WeChat through a video showing the before-and-after comparison of old photo processing effects, and finally use tools to retouch the photos to close the deal. The cost is almost zero, and the average customer price ranges from 50 to 300, which is a net profit from the side job!

After personally experiencing the entire process, observing and discussing with other Douyin entrepreneurial players, I think I can probably talk about my general views on this gameplay.

Next, I will discuss with you how these accounts use TikTok to realize monetization from three aspects: content diversion, account takeover, and paid monetization.

1. Content Traffic

The current core way to attract business traffic is to upload cases of restoring blurry old photos.

As long as the old photos are well retouched, completion rate, comments, likes and private messages will naturally be inevitable.

2. Account Takeover

It mainly refers to the personal homepage settings in Douyin, which includes the following 4 aspects. The core is to tell others the value you can provide and how to contact you.

1. Profile

According to observation, there are two main types of avatars. One type directly displays the keywords "photo editing, old photo restoration", and the other type uses avatars of beautiful women. There is no need to explain the purpose of directly displaying the keywords for old photo restoration. It is direct and clear.

2. Tik Tok name

Most of the Douyin titles contain the keyword "old photo restoration" to facilitate users' search and memory.

3. Introduction

Most of the introduction is a direct and detailed introduction to the old photo restoration business, as well as contact information (required).

Of course, there are also some people who have strong technical skills but are busy with their work, so their contact information is temporarily deleted and users can only contact them through private messages.

4. Official website, contact number

Having corporate certification and contact information is equivalent to having the official certification endorsement of Douyin, which is a plus point.

3. Paid Monetization

There are currently three better monetization models: restoring old photos, selling tutorials, and WeChat business:

1. Repair old photos. Most accounts choose this monetization model, and the average order value usually ranges from 50 to 300 (mainly depending on the degree of damage to the photo and the user's specific repair requirements).

2. Sell tutorials. There is nothing new under the sun. Currently, there are nearly 100 companies engaged in old photo restoration. Some experienced people with advanced thinking have begun to package photo editing skills and monetize them through training courses.

3. Micro-business. Since you have attracted so many WeChat friends without spending any money, you can sell anything in the future.

1. Why does this kind of business exist?

The restoration of blurred old photos has a strong sense of the times and emotional resonance, which can easily arouse users' emotional impulses and trigger impulsive consumption.

2. A search on Taobao shows tens of thousands of stores doing the same thing, why choose yours?

One word: lazy.

After being used for so long on Douyin, stickiness and trust have basically been cultivated. As long as the price is right and users have demand, most users are willing to pay.

For advanced players of PS, it is recommended that beginners search for "old photo restoration" or "recovery" in the app market to practice.

In fact, Douyin’s built-in camera tool has a special effects function for old photos, but among Douyin’s 300 million daily active users, only one million people have used this function. The information gap will always exist.
