Twist your own head off for fun. Can a headless fly survive?

Flies crawl over all kinds of dirty things and onto food. I think most people are extremely annoyed by flies, but they are difficult to kill because they are too agile. Mosquitoes can be slapped with hands, but flies are hard to slap with hands because they have many compound eyes and very sensitive vision. Flies have strong reproductive capacity, and maggots are their larvae.

As the saying goes, a fly without a head flies around in circles. Can a fly survive without a head?

According to common experience, if an animal loses its head, it will die. However, there are some animals in nature that are quite strong and can survive even if their heads are lost and their bodies are broken into two.

Earthworms are a special case in point. If we cut an earthworm into two pieces, as long as the proportions are right, for earthworm species with stronger vitality, sometimes the headless piece can survive and grow a new head after a period of time.

In fact, animals that can survive after losing their heads are generally lower organisms, because their nervous systems are relatively simple, and the regulation of physiological functions does not completely rely on the nervous system in the head, plus their regeneration ability is relatively strong, so they can survive. The nervous system of mammals is relatively complex, and even if they can grow another head, it will consume a lot of energy.

I once saw a video of a headless fly playing with its own head. Maybe it wanted to put its head back, but that is impossible.

Flies look dirty to us, but they are actually very clean. They crawl around to find food or lay eggs. There are many barbs on the legs of flies, which is why they can crawl on glass. Therefore, they will inevitably get stained with other things, so flies will rub it from time to time.

As for whether a fly will rub its head off, it really won't happen. If you don't believe me, try it yourself. Of course, this extremely small probability cannot be ruled out. After all, in nature, some antelopes will kill themselves with their horns.

In dangerous situations, geckos will cut off their tails to survive, and after a while they will grow a new tail. People can survive without limbs as long as they have enough conditions. But it is impossible for flies to survive by cutting off their heads, because once the head is lost, a new one will not grow. This is because flies do not have the strong regeneration ability of earthworms, and the body structure of flies is more complicated.

The fly twisted its own head off to play with it, which is actually a prank by humans. I guess the fly doesn't even know that it is playing with its own head at this time.

After all, the brain is the highest decision-making system. A fly without a head is bound to fly around randomly. It seems that the ancients were also very good at observation.

Some animals still have some nerve reflexes even after they die, for example, a chopped-off snake head can still bite people within a few dozen minutes after it falls off, which is a nerve reflex. However, flies can still survive without their heads, which is different from this situation.

The reason a headless fly is flying around in circles is that it is not really dead yet, or it is not completely dead yet.

For mammals, the head is very important. Without the head, they cannot breathe and will die immediately. Without the head, blood will also quickly drain from the wound.

But flies, like cockroaches, have no head and can breathe through the spiracles on their abdomens. Flies are insects, and unlike mammals, insects do not rely on blood vessels to transport oxygen and nutrients, so even if their heads fall off, they will not lose blood.

It is certain that a fly without a head can survive for a period of time, but it is not far from death. Cockroaches are known as the indestructible cockroaches. It is said that without a head, they can survive for up to several weeks.

Because they have no head, flies have no way to eat or avoid danger, and will eventually starve to death, be eaten by other animals, or die from bacterial infection.
