The "cliff-like" drop in temperature, the cold and dry weather, and the lips have also started the process of "desertification" -

How is your mouth?

From "pout lips" to "sandpaper lips", the mouth cracked and the person was gone.

In order to let everyone buy good lipstick and spend this winter safely, I also want to make a wish for the "koi" in the comment area:

Dad's review of the year-end masterpiece 15 popular lip balm reviews are officially launched, here are the family photos of the samples

This evaluation is divided into 5 dimensions: ingredient analysis, safety test, moisturizing test, stickiness test, and real-person trial. Based on the above, we recommend:

We’ve also provided practical suggestions for friends who suffer from cheilitis at the end, so be sure to read to the end!

We analyzed the ingredients of 15 lipsticks and found that No. 14 is not a lip balm at all, but a medicine.

It cannot be used for a long time. The box not only indicates the applicable symptoms, but also says "Use for 5 or 6 days. If the symptoms do not improve, please stop using it." Friends who use it for daily care, please stop!

No. 4 contains papain and No. 8 contains salicylic acid. Both substances have the function of exfoliating. Although they can remove dead skin on the lips, they can also easily damage the stratum corneum, causing damage to the lip skin barrier and accelerated moisture loss. It is not recommended to use it every day!

Last year, there were news reports that some brands of lip balm added the banned ingredient phenol. It is mainly used as a preservative in cosmetics and skin care products.

Phenol has a corrosive effect on the skin and mucous membranes, which can dissolve dead skin and expose new mucous membranes. It will also make your lips feel particularly soft, but it may affect female fertility.

In the cosmetics regulations of Europe and China, phenol is clearly listed as a banned substance. In the samples tested this time, phenol was not detected, so you can rest assured.

When you buy lipstick, do you pay attention to the shelf life of the product?

The main raw material of lipstick is oil, which will oxidize and deteriorate when exposed to air, microorganisms, etc. GB/T 26513-2011 "Lip Balm" stipulates that the peroxide value should be ≤ 0.2%.

This time we found two lipsticks that were about to go bad. What’s even more amazing is that they are still two or three years away from expiration...

Maybe you are using it and it goes bad before the expiration date... If you like to stock up, you should stock up less lipstick!

If lipstick is not moisturizing, it would be a waste of time. We took 9 volunteers to the Shanghai laboratory and tested the moisture-locking and hydrating abilities of 15 samples.

Test process: Draw four 3cm*3cm grids on the inside of the volunteer's arm, one for the blank control area and the other three for the test area; apply the lipstick sample evenly on the test area at a standard dosage of 2mg per square centimeter and let it stand for 15 minutes; then wait for 4 hours in a constant temperature and humidity environment (21±1℃, 50±10%RH), and then conduct transepidermal water loss and water content tests on the inside of the arm.

Unlike skin care products such as lotions and creams, lipstick can moisturize the lips mainly by the "oil" in its ingredients. It can form a protective film on the surface of the lips, thereby slowing down the dissipation of moisture.

Therefore, the water-locking ability of lipstick can be judged by testing the transepidermal water loss, which is also an important basis for judging the moisturizing performance of lipstick. The test results are as follows:

The results showed that after 4 hours, the transepidermal water loss of No. 2, 5, 6, 9, and 14 was reduced, and the water-locking ability was better.

Usually when we remember to apply lipstick, our lips are already very dry. Can the moisturizers added to lipstick, such as panthenol, sodium hyaluronate, allantoin, etc., really replenish moisture?

We tested how much moisture your skin gets after applying lipstick --

After 4 hours, the measured results showed that the moisture content of samples No. 5 and No. 9 increased significantly, while the moisture content of sample No. 10 decreased instead of increasing, which was quite "surprising"...

Considering the two abilities of locking in moisture and replenishing water, we believe that samples No. 5 and No. 9 performed outstandingly, and No. 2 and No. 6 were also quite good.

Although the moisturizing data of No. 14 is also relatively good, the allantoin, vitamin B and glycyrrhetinic acid in its formula have anti-inflammatory effects. It is recommended to be used in special periods such as lip inflammation, dryness and peeling, but long-term use is not recommended.

If by chance you use a super sticky lipstick, it happens to be windy, and you have loose hair or long bangs, you will probably look like the picture below -

Therefore, a lipstick that is not sticky and does not feel like lard on the lips will really increase the user's favorability!

The testing method is still the same as before: draw a grid on the arm, then apply an equal amount of lipstick, then sprinkle a handful of small pieces of paper, and after shaking off the arm, count the number of remaining small pieces of paper.

After repeating the experiment 4 times for each lipstick, we counted the number of small pieces of paper and took the average value.

Finally, it was concluded that No. 15, No. 9, No. 5, and No. 12 were less sticky, and this result was also verified in subsequent real-person trials.

In fact, in this section, we originally wanted to test the spreadability of lipstick (that is, whether it is easy to spread), but a problem arose - we searched through the literature and only found this one method.

So we found a large piece of glass, placed it at a 30-degree angle to the horizontal plane, applied lipstick on the bottom of the weight, and slid it down the glass. The longer the sliding distance, the better the ductility.

But ideals are full, and reality is super skinny! Because glass is not a person (not an insult), its temperature is lower than lips, so some weights just stick to it and can't move!

The probability of this situation occurring among the 15 lipsticks is very high, so we decided to replace this part with trial experience.

The actual feelings of the young ladies during the one-month use of lipstick are as follows, for reference only:

Before this lipstick review, we often saw comments about cheilitis in the background, and we also felt the anxiety of cheilitis patients.

The symptoms of cheilitis generally include dry lips, chapped lips, desquamation, and bleeding. Severe patients have swollen and eroded lips, inflammatory exudate to form blood or pus crusts, and pain and burning sensations.

In fact, there are many factors that lead to cheilitis. Lip licking, diet, season, allergies, diseases, microbial infections, mental factors, etc. may all cause cheilitis, but don't apply lip balm that claims to cure cheilitis.

As I said, if you are sick, see a doctor. Ordinary lipstick is nothing more than a moisturizing and hydrating function. If it can really cure cheilitis, then why do we need hospitals?

However, for daily lip care, we have summarized the following suggestions:

We guess someone will ask again in this lipstick review, why are there no lipsticks like Diao, Lamei, or Di Ai Chuxi? Because they are too expensive.

In fact, due to laboratory testing needs, we actually bought 165 lipsticks this time (not just 15), so the sample fee alone cost more than 6,000 yuan.

For some of these tests, there is not even any ready-made data to refer to, and additional testing methods need to be studied.

Some people may think that this article is mediocre and boring to read; others may think that it is not very professional and just read it...

But we are indeed trying to listen to everyone's voice and do our best to help everyone make some consumption decisions and avoid pitfalls in life.
