China Weather Network News: There is no winter without snow! From ancient times to the present, snow has always occupied the C position in winter. There are countless poems about snow in ancient times, and now it is even more "hot search" as soon as it snows. This weekend, many places in southern my country ushered in the first snow of this winter. The southern boundary of snowfall has crossed the Qinling Mountains and reached the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The Central Meteorological Observatory issued a blizzard warning for two consecutive days. Today, some areas in western Hunan, central and eastern Guizhou and other places may still have blizzards. Will the snow in the south be so "fierce"? China Weather Network sorted out nearly 70 years of meteorological big data and found that the maximum snow depth in Nanjing actually exceeded the capitals of the three northeastern provinces, and the Spring City Kunming also had a heavy snowstorm. If you want to see snow, you can go to these places my country has a vast territory, and the probability of seeing snow varies greatly from place to place. In some places, you can enjoy the scene of "thousands of miles of ice and thousands of miles of snow" as soon as winter comes; in some places, you can only experience "the breeze sways the trees in the courtyard and the fine snow falls through the gaps in the curtains" in the middle of winter; in some places, you can't even wait for a little snow. China Weather Network has reviewed the meteorological big data for nearly three decades and found that the probability of snowfall is highest in Heilongjiang, Jilin, eastern Inner Mongolia, northern Xinjiang, the eastern and southern edges of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Qinling Mountains, and northern Shandong Peninsula, with an average of more than 30 days of snowfall per year; the average number of days with snowfall per year in western Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, northern Hebei, northern Beijing, Liaoning and other places is 15 to 30 days; the number of days with snowfall in most parts of Beijing, Tianjin, central and southern Hebei, Henan, Shandong and other places is around 10 days. Snowfall is relatively rare in the south. Except for some high-altitude mountainous areas, the average annual number of snowfall days in most areas is less than 15 days. It is even more rare to see real snow in places like South China. For example, there has been almost no snowfall in the coastal areas of Fujian, the eastern and western coastal areas of Guangdong, the Leizhou Peninsula, the southeastern coastal areas of Guangxi, and Hainan. If you want to enjoy the snow, you can go to Northeast China, Inner Mongolia, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, and the northern part of Shandong Peninsula, where the probability of snowfall is high. In terms of the number of snow days in provincial capital cities, Urumqi is far ahead with an average of 64.2 snow days per year, and Changchun, Harbin, and Xining also have more than 30 days; Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Taiyuan and other cities are mostly around 11 to 13 days; Hangzhou, Hefei, Wuhan, Nanchang, and Shanghai are between 5 and 9 days; Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Nanning and other places have an average of less than 1 snow day per year. Blizzard blocked the door! This place is the "most snowy" in my country To say where there is the most snow, it is far from enough to just look at the number of snowy days. China Weather Network has compiled data on snow depth since 1951 and found that Nyalam in Tibet can be called "the snowiest in China". Its maximum snow depth reached 2.3 meters (January 9, 1989), which is enough to bury the doorway of a floor. It can be said to be "snowstorm blocking the door" and is taller than Yao Ming. Nyalam experienced two heavy snowfalls on December 26-27, 1988 and January 8-9, 1989, with the snow depth reaching 2.3 meters on January 9. After that, the snow depth gradually decreased, and from January 9 to 13, the snow depth was above 2 meters, and only dropped below 1 meter on January 31. In addition, the snow depth in Fuyuan, Heilongjiang Province reached 1.2 meters on March 12, 2015, and the snow depth at Qinghe and other stations in northern Xinjiang reached 0.95 meters, which was as deep as a child's height. Nanjing's maximum snow depth ranks among the top three Location is key If the depth of "China's snow nest" shocked people, the results of the snow accumulation rankings of provincial capital cities were also somewhat surprising. Shijiazhuang surpassed other cities in the northwest and northeast, with a snow depth of 55 centimeters, which was not only the highest among provincial capital cities, but also broke the local historical record. From November 10 to 12, 2009, Hebei Province was hit by heavy snow, with snow depth exceeding 30 centimeters in many places. On November 12, the maximum snow depth in Shijiazhuang city reached 55 centimeters. The second place is the southern city of Nanjing, with a maximum snow depth of 51 cm. Zhang Juan, a meteorological analyst at China Weather Network, said that it is no coincidence that Nanjing's maximum snow depth can enter the top three. Although it has few snowy days, the snowfall in some years is very considerable. In the past 70 years, Nanjing has had 7 days with a snow depth of more than 40 cm. Nanjing is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, and its position is to the south. The cold air that usually arrives here is limited, and snowfall is not easy to form. However, there is abundant water vapor here. Once encountering strong cold air, it is easy to converge to form heavy snowfall. Compared with other large cities in the Yangtze River Basin, Nanjing's latitude is relatively northerly and the winter temperature is also lower, so it is easier for it to meet both temperature and water vapor conditions at the same time, resulting in heavy snowfall. In addition, the maximum snow depth in Kunming, the "Spring City", ranked seventh, surpassing many northern cities, which is also very surprising. Zhang Juan explained that although Kunming is known as the "Spring City", it is about 2,000 meters above sea level, and snowfall is not uncommon. Its average annual number of snowfall days is 2.4 days, and the probability of snowfall is higher than that of Chongqing, which is located in a basin. The melting layer is thinner in high-altitude areas, and snowflakes can better maintain their shape. At the same time, the warm and humid air currents from the southwest will also bring it abundant water vapor. From December 27 to 28, 1983, Kunming experienced heavy snowfall, and the snow depth once reached 36 centimeters. China Weather Network kindly reminds you that from today to tonight, there will be heavy snow in parts of central and western Hunan, southeastern Chongqing, central and eastern Guizhou, and blizzards in parts of western Hunan, central and eastern Guizhou, etc. Please keep warm and take safety precautions when going out.
