Astronauts actually formed a band? What role did Yang Liwei play in the band?

What aspects of the 2022 manned space flight are worth looking forward to? Why do the crews of Shenzhou 14 and Shenzhou 15 need to be in orbit at the same time? Space is so big, when can we go and see it whenever we want?

During the two sessions, in response to topics of concern to netizens, Xu Danrui, host of Xinhuanet's special two sessions program "Two Sessions Youth Q&A", will invite the original video blogger "Bi Dao" Bi Xiaotian, who is "loves to open his mind", to have a conversation with Yang Liwei, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and deputy chief designer of China's manned space program.

Xinhuanet: How is the physical condition of the Shenzhou 13 "space mission trio"?

Yang Liwei: The Shenzhou 13 astronauts will return to Earth in mid-to-late April. Their physical, work and living conditions are very good. They have completed all the tasks planned so far and those added as needed.

Xinhuanet: What kind of inspiration led our astronauts to bring musical instruments into space?

Yang Liwei: Astronauts have many hobbies like everyone else. In the past, we astronauts had our own small band, and each astronaut had his or her favorite instrument, such as saxophone, trombone, and trumpet. I played the clarinet in the band. In this way, astronauts can bring their hobbies into space when flying, which is not only for self-entertainment, but also a good adjustment for work and life.

UP host "Bi Dao": If we build a space station with year-round manned care, will there be enough astronauts?

Yang Liwei: This year, according to the plan, my country's manned space program has entered the space station construction phase. It will complete six major missions, including the Shenzhou manned spacecraft and the Tianzhou cargo spacecraft, and fully build the space station.

At present, there is no problem for our astronauts to carry out their missions. Our third batch of astronauts are currently engaged in intensive training. When the space station is completed, the third batch of astronauts will be deployed for flight missions during the operational period.

Xinhuanet: "Shenzhou 14" and "Shenzhou 15" have 6 astronauts in orbit at the same time. Can the Chinese space station accommodate them?

Yang Liwei: By then, the space station should have been built, and we will see its carrying capacity. We will have six people working on it at the same time, and this aspect was also taken into consideration when designing the space station. This is a verification of the space station, and also a verification of the work and life of more astronauts on it.

UP host "Bi Dao": Space is so big, can we go see it whenever we want?

Yang Liwei: If ordinary people want to go to the space station, there is no technical problem. Of course, the prerequisite is that they have a healthy body, so after a short period of training, they can adapt to life in space. But at present, we are in a verification experiment assembly stage, so the opportunity to fly in space is mainly reserved for professional astronauts. However, after our space station is built in the future, we will also allocate some resources to allow non-professional people in different fields to fly. I think this day will not be too far away.
