Video source: Weibo video account @四川观察 According to the China Power Construction Chengdu Survey and Design Institute on June 30, the Jinyang River Bridge, the world's tallest rigid-frame pier bridge, which was fully constructed and managed by the institute, was officially opened to traffic. The Jinyang River Bridge is a key transportation project in the national poverty alleviation campaign. It is a key project in the reconstruction of the original S208 line from Jinyang County, Liangshan Prefecture to Tongyang Bridge. The bridge spans the deep valley of the Jinyang River, with a total length of 757.7 meters and 9 piers. The main piers 5, 6 and 7 are hollow piers made of steel tube concrete lattice with good seismic performance and strong economy. Among them, the main pier No. 6 of the bridge is 196 meters high, and with the 14-meter beam height of the upper structure, it is equivalent to the height of a 70-story building. As an important channel connecting the old and new county towns of Jinyang County, the Jinyang River Bridge has taken on the function of crossing the river for National Highway G356 and improving regional traffic conditions, benefiting more than 120,000 people and being included as one of the key tourist and cultural attractions in Jinyang County. After the bridge is opened to traffic, the distance between the old and new county towns will be shortened from an hour's drive to just a few minutes. During the construction of the bridge, the Chengdu Institute applied for more than ten national patents and provincial and ministerial-level construction methods, completed a number of key technology research reports, and overcame key problems such as the structural design of ultra-high pier continuous rigid frame bridges, high-altitude lifting of steel pipes, ultra-high and ultra-long high-performance concrete pumping, and ultra-high tower crane elevator operation safety assurance, ensuring the safety, quality, and progress of the project, saving project costs, and promoting the long-term progress of China's bridge construction technology.
