According to CCTV News, early this morning, my country successfully launched the Gaofen-5 01A satellite into space using the Long March 2D carrier rocket at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. This mission is the 453rd flight of the Long March series of carrier rockets.

The High-Resolution Earth Observation System Major Project is one of the 16 major science and technology projects identified in the Outline of the National Medium- and Long-Term Science and Technology Development Plan (2006-2020). The first satellite in the space-based system of the National High-Resolution Earth Observation System Major Project is the Gaofen-1 satellite. The successful launch of the Gaofen-1 satellite marks that my country's high-resolution earth observation system has officially entered the satellite network construction stage.

At 2:28 am on May 9, 2018, the Gaofen-5 satellite was successfully launched at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. It is the world's first full-spectrum hyperspectral satellite that can achieve comprehensive observation of the atmosphere and land. The Gaofen-5 satellite can effectively support the monitoring and early warning of greenhouse gases, trace gases and pollutant gases in meteorological operations.

The Gaofen-5 01A satellite launched today will play an important role in atmospheric composition detection, natural resource surveys, and environmental quality supervision.

The Long March 2D launch vehicle adopted many advanced technologies during its development. The advanced solutions greatly reduced the I and II single-point failures of the control system. The advanced navigation technology significantly improved the orbital accuracy of the Long March 2D launch vehicle.
