Do you think your scalp is dandruff when it flakes off? Doctors from West China University of Political Science and Law warn you to be careful of this common skin disease in winter!

Psoriasis, a strange name, but when it comes to another name - "psoriasis", I guess everyone can say a few words...

Whether it is flyers flying in the streets or small advertisements on telephone poles, the publicity of "psoriasis" is simply overwhelming...

But if you believe the false advertisements that say it can be cured, then you have fallen into a trap. Not only will you spend money, but the condition will only get worse.

“ So can psoriasis be cured?

Can it be cured?

Is it hereditary?

Is it contagious?

"Next, I would like to invite Dr. Hao Dan from the Department of Dermatology at West China Hospital of Sichuan University to speak to you!

What is psoriasis?

Which place is most likely to be missed?

People usually call psoriasis "psoriasis" mainly for the sake of an appropriate description.

It is true that when this disease forms a rash, the skin appears as hard as cowhide, but psoriasis is not psoriasis.

Many other skin diseases can also cause such thick appearance. For example, skin problems such as chronic eczema and neurodermatitis may also look like "psoriasis".

So, not all “psoriasis” that people talk about is actually psoriasis! So what exactly is psoriasis?

From a medical perspective, psoriasis is a chronic, inflammatory, recurrent, systemic disease caused by the combined effects of genes, immunity, and the environment. It can occur at any age, but the two most common age groups are 20-30 and 50-69 years old. Some patients also develop the disease in adolescence.

After suffering from psoriasis, erythema and papules will appear on the skin, covered with silvery white scales, which are generally easy to identify.

However, because psoriasis does not have itching symptoms in most cases, many people do not think about it, which leads to missed diagnosis . Some people are even misdiagnosed and mistakenly think that it is an allergy or something like that.

It should be noted that there are two parts that are most easily missed: the ears and the scalp.

Because it is invisible, many people mistake psoriasis on the scalp for dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis) and miss the opportunity for timely treatment.

If you have too much dandruff, it is recommended that you go to a dermatologist first to have a doctor diagnose whether it is psoriasis!

Can psoriasis be cured? What methods can be used to treat it?

Speaking of which, psoriasis is actually not that scary, although looking at the picture does make you feel a little physically uncomfortable.

But psoriasis is not contagious, don't worry! However, since the pathogenesis is still unclear, there is no cure for it. (So don't believe any folk remedies or advertisements)

More importantly, do not buy various ointments on your own initiative. The reason why many people's condition worsens is because of the improper use of large amounts of hormones, which causes secondary skin atrophy, capillary dilation, folliculitis and other sequelae.

Although psoriasis cannot be cured, there are many ways to control the symptoms without affecting your life and study, such as developing the habit of applying moisturizer (medical moisturizer is best).

Treatment is generally carried out in four ways:

11

Topical medications

Apply ointments, such as topical vitamin D3 derivatives, calcineurin inhibitors, glucocorticoids, etc.

Skin care products, moisturizers, and body lotions mentioned above also fall within the scope of topical treatments, and they also include topical auxiliary treatments, such as medicated baths;

2

Traditional oral medications

For example, Acitretin capsules, and immunosuppressants such as methotrexate, cyclosporine, etc.;

3

Physical therapy

Mainly refers to phototherapy, such as narrow-spectrum medium-wave ultraviolet light and 308nm excimer light;

4

Biologics

It is also a systemic treatment, which uses immune targeted drug therapy through injection or infusion, as well as oral small molecule drugs.

Many people think that this is such a complicated problem, so can it be treated?

Of course it needs to be treated!

General treatment is based on the severity of the disease, personal basic conditions, and treatment needs, following the principles of individualized and step-by-step treatment. If the initial treatment is not effective, it will be gradually adjusted and upgraded. If the condition is relatively mild, applying medicine will suffice.

If left untreated, psoriasis will not only be a skin disease, but “comorbidities” will become even more serious!

Tips:

Patients with moderate to severe psoriasis may suffer from systemic diseases such as arthritis, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and coronary heart disease, which are called comorbidities of psoriasis.

Generally speaking, psoriasis and comorbidities are two parallel lines. For example, if the skin symptoms are severe, it is easy to detect if the comorbidities are also serious. What needs to be guarded against is the situation where the skin symptoms are not severe but the comorbidities are serious .

Taking joints as an example, arthritis can easily be mistaken for rheumatoid arthritis, but in fact it may be due to psoriasis, which requires special attention.

Who is prone to psoriasis?

What should we pay attention to in our daily life

Regarding psoriasis, many people are not only worried about whether it is contagious, but also more worried about whether it is hereditary?

Strictly speaking, psoriasis cannot be defined as a hereditary disease, but there are genetic factors. If parents have psoriasis, the child is more likely to get psoriasis than others.

Epidemiological survey data show that if one of a couple has psoriasis, the probability of their children developing the disease is 14% to 15%. If both spouses have the disease, the probability is over 50%.

In addition to genetic factors, infection (such as tonsillitis), mental (such as nervous tension and stress), psychological (such as depression) and other factors are also important causes of psoriasis.

Psoriasis patients need to pay attention to the following aspects in their daily lives:

Don't let your skin get hurt

Many psoriasis patients do not have many "psoriasis" themselves, but after being injured or broken, psoriasis lesions will appear in the injured area, so try to avoid it;

Don't stay up late and relieve psychological stress

Clinically, it is found that if many psoriasis patients stay up late, have a cold, or are under great stress, the recurrence and aggravation of psoriasis will increase;

Don't drink alcohol or smoke

Similarly, smoking and drinking will aggravate the condition; drinking will also increase the risk of "comorbid" metabolic diseases;

Maintain healthy eating habits

Maintaining a balanced nutrition is beneficial for relieving symptoms of psoriasis patients, such as grains, beans, vegetables, fruits, high-protein fish, etc.

Get some sun

Many skin diseases require avoiding ultraviolet rays, but ultraviolet sunlight exposure can suppress the inflammation of psoriasis, so there is no problem with appropriate sun exposure!

The weather is getting colder. For psoriasis patients, they should pay special attention to winter, which is the peak season. They should keep warm and moisturize.
