On January 1, the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology successfully spliced ​​together the three-dimensional models of the kneeling human figure with a top vase unearthed from the No. 3 sacrificial pit at the Sanxingdui site and the bronze mythical beast unearthed from the No. 8 sacrificial pit.

Both artifacts were unearthed during a new round of excavation of sacrificial pits at the Sanxingdui site. Among them, the bronze vase with a kneeling figure on top has a peculiar shape, with the figure kneeling with his hands crossed and a dragon-shaped ornament on his head.

The bronze beast is more than 1 meter long and weighs nearly 300 kilograms. It is the largest beast unearthed from the Sanxingdui site. It has a big head, a thin waist, and four hooves with patterns. It is believed to be a mixture of multiple animal images.

Xie Zhenbin, chief engineer of the Sichuan Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, said that what has been released is a "combination" of the three-dimensional models of the two artifacts. The artifacts themselves have only been cleaned up and have not yet been formally restored. "Because there may be other things that can be combined with them in the future, we have to wait until the cleaning of the unearthed artifacts is completed to see whether the artifacts in the same pit can be spliced ​​together, and then see whether cross-pit splicing and restoration work can be carried out."
