The number of such patients is the highest during the Spring Festival every year! Huaxi Emergency Hospital experts teach you a trick that can save lives in an emergency

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. Are you on your way home?

Anyway, the editor hasn’t done so yet. He is still here writing the article carefully so that everyone can have a healthy new year.

No matter where you spend the New Year this year, you must need this holiday safety guide from Huaxi doctors! Share it first, and remind your family and friends when necessary~

• If a foreign object gets stuck in the throat accidentally, how can children and adults save themselves?

• In addition to drinking, what else should you pay attention to before driving?

• Are you still making these mistakes when warming yourself by the fire at home?

If not handled in time, foreign objects stuck in the throat can be fatal!

During the Chinese New Year, the reunion dinner table is always full of bone-in meat such as chicken, duck, fish and meat. The family will inevitably prepare delicious snacks such as melon seeds, peanuts and jelly, but if you are not careful when eating, they may get stuck in the throat and cause airway foreign body obstruction.

The severity of airway obstruction depends on the location and size of the foreign body.

If the foreign body is large

It is easy to get stuck at the opening of the airway, causing complete inability to breathe and soon hypoxia. Without oxygen supply for 4-5 minutes, the important organs of the human body will suffer varying degrees of damage and loss of function, and in severe cases, suffocation and death.

If the foreign body is small

It may get stuck in the airway branch and cause partial obstruction. If it is not removed in time, it will cause repeated inflammation and hypoxia of the alveoli in the corresponding part.

So if you choke while eating, you can first expel the foreign body by coughing;

If you feel obvious hoarseness or difficulty breathing, be sure to perform the Heimlich maneuver immediately !

If a foreign object is stuck in your throat, do not slap your back or reach your hand down your throat to get it out, as this may push the foreign object deeper into your respiratory tract.

I would also like to remind everyone again: if a fish bone is stuck in your throat, drinking vinegar or swallowing food in big gulps will be of no use.

The correct way is to cough hard or make yourself feel like vomiting to make it easier to cough out the fishbone. If this still doesn't work and the pain is obvious, go to the hospital as soon as possible!

Common things that can cause foreign objects to get stuck in the throat (not just food):

① Peanuts, melon seeds, beans, and foods with shells or chunks of fruit, meat, etc.;

② Screws, steel needles with beads, bamboo sticks, metal rings, dogtail grass, five-pointed stars, whistles, plastic stickers, fish hooks, hairpins, cocklebur balls, and zippers.

So although there are many delicious foods during the Chinese New Year, you should chew slowly and carefully when eating, and adults should also pay attention to look after children to prevent them from accidentally ingesting foreign objects.

In addition to drinking, be aware of this before driving!

It’s easy to talk about drunk driving, but do you know what “drug driving” means?

"Drug driving" refers to the behavior of a driver driving after taking certain drugs that may affect safe driving.

In daily life, we need to pay special attention to the following situations:

• Cough syrups and cold medicines containing antipyretic, analgesic and antihistamine ingredients;

• Antihypertensive drugs that may cause postural hypotension after taking, such as clonidine, prazosin, etc.;

• Antihypertensive drugs of the diuretic type that cause polyuria or frequent urination after taking them;

• Blood sugar lowering drugs such as Glyburide which are likely to cause hypoglycemia and even syncope in severe cases.

The main reason for "drug driving" is that the adverse reactions caused by certain drugs will affect driving safety, thereby affecting the driver's judgment and concentration, making the driver feel sleepy, dizzy, tinnitus, rapid heartbeat, blurred vision, weakness , etc.

So be sure to read the drug instructions carefully before taking the medicine!

Once again, I would like to remind my friends who drive that the harm of "driving under the influence of drugs" is no less than that of "driving under the influence of alcohol", and it also needs to be given enough attention!

In addition, the digestion of food by the gastrointestinal tract after a meal requires a large amount of blood, which causes temporary ischemia in the brain, which can easily lead to operational errors and cause car accidents. It is safer to drive one hour after a meal !

Fire is hot, be careful of burns and poisoning!

When spending the winter in Sichuan, electric stoves, hand warmers, hot water bottles and other warming artifacts can be said to be a must-have for every household.

However, when using these heating devices, because the temperature is not high, it is easy to keep in contact with the same part for a long time, causing low-temperature burns , causing redness, swelling, dryness, itching, and even blisters on the skin.

"Low-temperature burns" refer to prolonged contact of human skin with a heat source above 45°C. Although the temperature may not seem high, prolonged contact can cause the heat energy to accumulate and conduct deep into the body, causing deep burns.

The normal human body temperature is 37℃, and the skin surface temperature in winter is 35-36℃ due to the cold weather. Under normal circumstances, if the body is exposed to a temperature of 70℃ for one minute, the skin may be burned; but prolonged contact with a low-temperature object that is higher than the body temperature may still cause burns.

Generally speaking, young women, diabetics, and infants are more likely to suffer from low-temperature burns, so you need to pay more attention!

① Once a "low-temperature burn" occurs, first cool the burn with a cool towel or cold water, and do not apply soy sauce or toothpaste;

② If blisters appear, they should be treated with topical medication;

③ If infection occurs, go to the hospital as soon as possible. Especially for low-temperature burns with severe wounds, surgery may be used to remove necrotic tissue.

If you use a coal stove for heating, be wary of carbon monoxide poisoning!

Carbon monoxide poisoning mostly occurs at night, so do not burn coal stoves for heating in closed rooms when you sleep.

If you feel dizzy, blurred vision, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, or general fatigue, you should immediately open the windows and go outside to breathe fresh air.

If someone is found to be unresponsive, they should be transferred to a safe place, and then assessed to see if they have respiratory or cardiac arrest and given appropriate first aid, and call 120 immediately.

Although mild to moderate poisoning can generally be recovered, carbon monoxide poisoning can cause great damage to the lungs, heart, brain and other organs, and may leave sequelae.

So everyone must pay attention and spend a safe and healthy new year with your family!
